No matter what people think of Ferrell, I think most would agree Anchorman was pretty awesome. Well apparently the sequel is officially a go now. :awe:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/anchorman-sequel-will-ferrell-conan-305490?

Ferrell said: "I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the U.K. -- including England -- that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman."

Much of the first film's principal cast is expected to return for the sequel. The 2004 movie co-starred several actors whose careers have taken off in the eight years since the film was released, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. Other cast members included Christina Applegate, Chris Parnell and Fred Willard. Anchorman, which Ferrell co-wrote with director Adam McKay, grossed $91 million worldwide.

Releasing in 2013. I'm in.

Stay classy OT.

Applegate was smoking hot in the first one.

Oh and I like most of Farrell's movies.

Anchorman was awesome, and Step Brothers is one of of my favorite movies ever. Maybe in 2013 they'll announce a Step Brothers sequel.

Yeah, Step Brothers is awesome. I'd be down for a sequel to that one too.

Comedy sequels make me nervous. The first one was so hilarious, it would be a shame to ruin it.

I don't think they can top the first, but it'll still be awesome and I will still go see it.

Fuck you San Diego.

:awe:

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.
Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.
Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.
Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?
Ron Burgundy: No. No.
Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.
Ron Burgundy: Agree to disagree.

Anchorman is my favorite Ferrel movie! The only possible sequal that would make me more excited is an incredibles 2 announcement.

 I thought it sucked.

You live in San Diego and eat at PF fucking Changs. You're opinion on aesthetics is worthless. Jesus fucking christ, you live in a city with phenomenal asian food. If you had any taste, at all, you would have a couple awesome asian places picked out, instead of a casual dining chain.

I eat at PF Changs maybe one or two times a year. I'm not asian... as such, I couldn't possibly care less about authentic or "awesome" asian food.

Italian food fucking PWNS asian food.

Anchorman sucked.

Incredibles was awesome.

This is an excellent point. Has there EVER been a comedy sequel that lived up to an original? Airplane, great. Airplane 2... best to pretend that never existed. Ditto for Caddyshack. Hangover was great, Hangover 2 couldn't capture the same magic. Ditto for Ghostbusters. The Naked Gun series was excellent, but the first one is still the best by a fair margin. Ditto for Beverly Hills Cop (and 3 wasn't really very good).

Help me out ATOT. Good comedy sequels? Seems like it just doesn't happen.

And, in keeping with the theme of the thread: I love lamp.

Anchorman is by far my favorite Will Ferrell movie (that's not really saying much, honestly, its one of like 5 will ferrell movies I can even stand), but I have little hope the sequel will be all that good. I just hope it doesn't end up being a big "in" schlockfest full of people from the Stiller, Sandler, and Apatow groups. Leave junk like that for little cameos and stuff like the fight scene (you know, how the first Anchorman was).

Austin Powers did well.
Wanes World 2 wasn't bad.
Clerks 2 was done right.
For what it was Jackass was Jackass.
The Big Lebowski > The Hudsucker Proxy.
