Anazon Friday Sale is Up - DEc 5, 2003

Page 2 - Seeking answers? Join the AnandTech community: where nearly half-a-million members share solutions and discuss the latest tech.
I also noticed this on the right side of the sale page:

"Come back December 12 for the next Friday Sale, featuring:
Great savings on items from our Electronics, Software, Kitchen, and Tools Stores--and more!"

Thanks to LongtallTexantoo
I just got the Swiss Army pocket Knife cybertool.<<<<<<<<<<<Great for computer repair, once you make sure it's not magnetized. I have a audio tape head de-magnetizer I run it through just to make sure.

I also picked up 2 of the Cybertools - I've had one for 2 years now and they are marvelous I had it for 6 months before I found the pin 🙂.
I did not mention it earlier because I wanted to tell a few friends about the Cybertool. I've not seen them discounted before.
Oh, and imaklone - due to the graphic on the Henckel's - does that qualify them as a gay blade ?

Sabatier Precision 14-Piece Stainless-Steel Knife Block Set
Like others have said - they are well worth $15, they should last for months and greatly beat plasticware.
I just bought the Henkel's 7 piece set for $180, as a present for my son. I personally have a 20 year old set of Henckel's similar to that and they hold up GREAT.

Back around Memorial Day I was deciding between Henkels and Wusthofs, but went with the latter. Your son won't be disappointed!

😎

If you plan on getting this, make sure you click on the bottom link where it saidz " Buy Sabatier Precision 14-Piece Stainless-Steel Knife ... and get Sabatier Chef's Pot Holder, Set of 2 as a gift with purchase!"

So you get the two extra Pot Holder for the same price. 🙂
For $12.99 its definitely worth every penny.

They were excellent quality knives some time ago when they were made in France (I still have a 15 year old Sabatier knife set). They were made with carbon-steel alloy and virtually indestructable. What's sad is they were taken over about another company that moved the manufacturing to China. Now they're cheap knives that are no where NEAR the quality of the fine blades they produced before. The set for $12.99 listed isn't a bad deal though. I'd say the set is worth $30-$40 (that $240 original price is a joke). Just keep them out of the diswasher.

Sabatier is still made in France, but like Henckels and Wustoff they are licensing their name to China manufacturers. The Henckels knifes with only one man on the blade are China made.

The Grand Chef line is Sabatier, France and excellent although it's the same price level as the Henckels/Wustoffs.

I got the 10 piece Grand Chef set last month for $149, plus a $30 gift cert, plus a roasting pan (about a $30 pan) with free shipping. My wife was afraid to use them at first since they are so sharp and heavy.

Sabatier Precision 14-Piece Stainless-Steel Knife Block Set

If you google that you'll see about 10 different online stores selling that set for the same price. So it's not necessarily "on sale."

Those stores are more than likely just webportals to amazon, they list the products only to get the referral, checking out takes you to amazon's checkout page....at least the ones I could see off the bat.

They are fine if you want to but a new set ever 6-10 months. 🙂

Dead giveaway: 95% price reduction. 😀

Apparently Amazon was offering a similar deal last year, as noted in a usenet thread in rec.food.equipment.
This Hot Deals thread has been pretty upbeat, so I won't directly rain on the parade and just refer the reader to the linky-poo
