Does anyone know if you have to put in a credit card number in order to use the free 30 day trial when you buy AO? I don't have a credit card at the moment but I'd like to try it out because all of the sudden it's getting rave reviews and it's only 19.99. Anyways, thanks for the info.
 
Yeah, you have to. I'm not sure if they accept other "tokens" of payment, but you can always try registering an account and then cancelling if you do not like the information you need to give out.

They ask you for the number, but don´t worry, because if you log out before the 7 days trial, they aren´t going to charge you anything. Ask to a friend with a number, it´s a nice world.
 
Isn't there a free-trial thing going on for 7days? It allows you to download the entire game, why bother buying when you can just
download the entire thing? Unless you've got some extra cash...*shrug*
 
He's not worried about it charging his credit card. He doesn't have one. That's why he's asking...

Even with the download version, you'd still need to register and account and that will also need a credit card number. But yes, he should download the game instead of buying it unless he's on dial-up.
