Anarchy Online download game for free and no subscription anymore

Thanks. Account created and downloading now with my fav, Bit Torrent.

Here is the fine print:
*The offer is only valid if you sign up a new Anarchy Online account between the 15th of December 2004 and 15th of January 2005. You can play free of charge until 1/1 2006. Should Funcom deem that a too high-increase in server load or other unforeseen events will lessen the experience for existing players the offer will be terminated at our discretion. The free version does not include access to any of the three expansion packs. Should you wish to upgrade to any of the expansion packs monthly subscription and client fees will be added.

Buddy of mine absolutely LOVED this when it came out. But at the time, it was very buggy, so he quit. When it came out, it had the coolest graphics of the existing mmorpg's.

But, now the market is flooded with mmo's.
 
nah, graphic wise it didn't really even mesure up to eq (before luclin, its new textures, and its new models). ac had a good view distance, and the player models were a bit more detailed, but textures were blander, buildings were a litttle drabber, and the monsters looked really bad. Also performance was maybe a tad bit worse then eq (which is bad). how ever the latter probably wouldnt matter much with todays pc's.

If you play mmorpgs, youve playd better. If you're tight on money, time to kill, go ahead and eat your heart out.
 
Only one more day for this. Pretty neat/fun game.

I just played the free 7 day planetside trial and that game was pretty lame and seemingly pointless.
 
So, this just includes the base anarchy - but none of the expansion packs, right?? Or is it for everything? (e.g. alien Invasion, Notum wars, Shadowlands, and all that...)

Thanks for the reply - I dug a little deeper (e.g. looked at their little chart) and got the same info.

So, is the base (small) installer worth playing - or is it really boring/not very good quality/limited?

Just wondering whether it's even worth downloading.... (~815MB!!)

I got it a week ago.... awesome game. Very hard learning curve, but that keeps it from getting boring. Plus once u get past the beginning stage it gets fun, starting out the character is tedious and a bit boring, try to get off the initial island u get sent to asap!

The graphics are very impressive actually... especially considering the age of the game and the fact that it's an mmog. If you have any questions feel free to do command in the chat: /cc addbuddy imstanny i'll be glad to assist you... and since i'm on winter break now, i'm online often and in most timezones ;-)

Seems to me, you can obtain Shadowlands and Notum wars free, but will have to start paying the monthly fee.
 
The free signup period ended January 15, 2004 so this is a dead deal for those who didn't jump earlier.

I'm playing it and enjoy it a lot.
 
Well, if anyone's interested, and it's legal to give away accounts, I'm done with mine. I've got a level 40 fixer (IIRC), and I believe you can create more characters from the same account. Good game, intereseting world, It just kinda lost its appeal after a while. PM me if anyone wants it. I'll just edit out all of the personal data, change the PW, and be done with it.

Wrong. They extended the free signup for the year. So you can get a free account until 2006. Just follow the link.

Its still free, but Funcom does NOT permit transfering accts, so if you do it, don't talk about it.

Funcom claims that often people will buy an account, and use the good reputation to cause trouble. People have lost accts for making transfers and talking about it.

BTW maybe not as slick as WoW, but $200 cheaper and just as addictive.
