Ah, yes. Long, long ago in a galaxy not very far away, the always inventive and often naughty Killbat wrote a program which enabled the user to generate huge messages made out of an alphabet of various smileys. It was really cute at first, but some people started overusing it, and many threads loaded so slowly that you could go off and have lunch, then return to find that the thread was still cranking along, choking on all the smiley-spam. The Mods cracked down on the practice of making monstrously massive smiley messages, and Killbat's quirky genius languished (presumably without a smile.)

Killbat's program was entitled "Smileys Abound." While I don't much miss the smiley invasion, I do miss Killbat, who posts much less frequently these days.

Possibly he doesn't have enough time on his hands.
