i've been in the market to sell a couple bits of musical equipment and i'm trying to avoid ebay at all costs, mostly due to fees. does anyone know of any music sites that have for sale/trade forums a la anandtech?

Welcome to AT.

Do you mean audio equipment like speakers and stuff, or like instruments?

either or. im specifically looking to sell a guitar amp and cabinet, so that would be equipment, but i figure a forum featuring instruments would also have a section for equipment. i could be wrong on that.

thanks for the welcome. i've been joined long enough, time i started lurking these friggin boards.

I suspect that you'll have a much higher likelihood of being screwed on a FS/FT forum, than on e-Bay.

Over the long run, your fraud losses will quickly eliminate any cost savings you've realized by not using e-Bay for your trades.

I kind of know of a couple hometheater type FS/FT forums, no idea on music stuff like you're talking about.

Good luck :)

thanks for looking out for me, but i'm willing to take the small chance. i feel confident in my ability to plan out payment/shipping well enough to not get screwed, BUT if i do, then you sir, shall have the last laugh.

i do not/will not sell enough online for there to be a "long run" either way. i'm just looking to get more cash for this stuff than i would if i pawned it.

I usually trade around on craigslist.org for guitars and other 'instruments' but I always go there and see and play the item in person as they vary in playability and overall performance. I hit Ebay for stuff that has consistancy or doesn't require playing.
