This is not really a forum issue, but a concern for the whole Anandtech website. I hope Anand himself would read this message and think about the news articles his website is offering to the public. Can moderators please moderate the NEWS section on the front page? Please also tell your employees and article writers, not to post stupid articles that is definitely NOT news!

The news articles being posted on the front page are becoming very lame, and Anandtech as a whole is losing credibility in my eyes and the people I know. I come here to get Tech Industry REAL NEWS with concrete facts, not biased, speculative ideas.

Example of uncredible/non-tech news over the last few days:

Bill Gates and Napoleon Dynamite

Rockstar takes a potshot at GTA critic

Office Depot to close 27 stores

Not trying to flame, but disagree. Tangents, maybe, but not "uncredible". Shoot, with so many Hot Deal threads that include Office Depot, I would think it would be reported here. You can "not click" on them. It is not like some farking pop-up. ;)

Brandon Hill (ie, NFS4), usually doesn't post "highly technical' articles.....I wouldn't expect this to change anytime soon.

Think of AT news as a rolling feed of random, usually tech related tidbits from around the internet. AT is not designed to report OTHER people's news on the tech industry, they take their own highly detailed look into technology; not report other people's. And yet Brandon still does report a good bit of tech news, while maintaining an interesting variety.

 Keep up the good work

I'm sorry, but neither of those articles is uncredible or non-fact.

YES. Bill Gates made a movie in the same vein as Napolean Dynamite
YES. Rockstar did fight back at a lawyer who has been hounding the franchise for years
YES. Office Depot did close 27 store. There are many Hot Deals on these forums from OD, and store closings could mean possible hot deals for many (OD had half-price laptops a few months back). Not to mention that Office Depot is a retailer or tech related items.

I have ALWAYS sprinkled off-kilter news in with the regular news. I've been doing that since 1999. This is nothing "new." No one wants to read the same dry press releases and boring articles ALL of the time.

I could understand your point if every news post in a given date was of that nature, but to throw in one or two news posts every once in a while of a humorous or slightly off topic (but still tech related) nature is nothing to scoff at.

PS, since when is an article from Reuters not "news"

Hmmm, I wish I could remember which thread it was in, but yesterday, there was a link to an article from Reuters that was obviously b.s. that someone reported on. I think it was in a bio-diesel thread.

I think Brandon's job here is very difficult.

He has to balance "good" news with "fun" news because each has their audience on this website.

To me, your argument is not really about credibility of articles, but more about content.

I think he's doing an excellent job in balancing the two.
