And yet more reliable tech sites like AT say the Abit IS-7 is a better i865, as do the vast majority of tech-savvy AT fourm people.

> It has a cool feature called dynamic overclocking that automatically adjusts the FSB to the application demand.
> It actually underclocks my system when I am just surfing or downloading. I have seen it do this.

Like I just said, with DOT running, your Geil was not always running at the FSB you set -- DOT was sometimes overclocking. With DOT disabled the Geil might have been stable.

Which reminds me, have you downloaded the BIOS update to allow disabling the stealth overclocking MSI put it to cheat on benchmarks? It that is on, your mobo FSB will sometimes be running 10% faster than you think it is.

The bios is current.

I thought that it was that they slightly overlocked the north bridge. Which doesn't bother me. But I don't really
remember the source on that.

If you are talking about Dynamic Over Clocking -- it was always just a matter of turning it off in the bios.
You actually cannot overclock manually while it is active -- though you may think you are.

The default bios setting for this feature is >on< (lowest of five dynamic overclocking settings) which may be about a 10% overclock

When the northbridge is overclocked, the memory controller is overclocked (main part of the NB) which in turn, overclocks the memory. Brush up on your knowledge or at least hang around the forums for a while before you start throwing around your almighty opinion.

EDIT: Had to brush up on my spelling\typing :)
