Anandtech is really slow for me

Is it just me or are the Anandtech Forums really slow lately? I have a DSL connection and get above average connection speeds. My other Internet stuff is snappy, but my AF are very slow lately. For example, I was just reading a thread in the Operating Systems forum and went to the list of threads in the same forum. It took 34 seconds for the screen to write. Using Netscape 4.73. Thanks for considered opinions, etc.

Hi there, the forums are capped, so during peak hours they will be slow. We had to cap the bandwidth on the forums because it was out of control. It's been very, very slow for the past few nights. Occasionally a page will load quickly (few seconds), but usually it's more like 1-2 minutes. Can the bandwidth capping really be slowing things down that much? If so, then I guess there's really no choice but to subscribe if I wish to continue using the forums (albeit being a light user), if I wish to maintain my sanity...

This is really curious. I've seen this before. A few months ago I was experiencing a similar problem. Suddenly the forums were really slow for me and for some other people, there was no perceived problem. I don't know what's at play here.

well i'm on 56k imagine how slow it was for me

i used to have dsl but the company resold four times before going out completely :disgust:

but then a few days ago i SUBCRIBED and lil ol me got as good as dsl speeds

man them ads are bandwidth intensive as i pop from page to page now

and this ought to go in the hot deals $30.00 for a year man i was paying 55.00 per month for about the same speed and yes i regret not having dsl (downloads still suck lol) but it is nice to know that there is life after dsl lol

seriously subscribe it's only 2.50 a month with a year's subscription and you get to support a great site IMHO

I'm considering subscribing, but won't be able to do so until I receive my new credit card. The old account number was stolen somehow, and someone in Israel attempted to charge more than $600 to it. Luckily my credit card company noticed the strange charges and checked with me...

I may be WAY OFF here, but i've been noticing the adserver (?) "network.realmedia.com" just sits there for
about a minute sometimes. I'm guessing that the ad people dont have equipment able to deal with the
traffic this site generates, and until THEY upgrade, things are gonna stay slow.

But then again, I have had a frontal lobotomy just recently.

Only 1 minute? I've seen it take 2-3 minutes to respond...
