Anandtech is loading VERY slowly

So, we've found the problem. Is it ATF or KAV? Every other forum I attend seems to be fine when KAV is running so it's my guess that the forum software is causing the grief.

Vista ultimate runs slow no matter if it is home page or any other, rebooted with my xp pro hard drive and it is very fast on all pages

Maybe it's my new Opteron 165.

It's Kaspersky! Runs slower than dial up with Kaspersky on. Pause Kapsersky and lightning fast. I don't have this problem with any other website:brokenheart:

Somebody at Anand speak to Kasperksy. Somebody at Kaspersky speak to Anand.

It takes anywhere from 10 to 30+ seconds to load.

It's been like this for a weeks. I'm on Vista 32.

Same here! After pausing Kaspersky, Anandtech instantly runs fast until I then reactivate Kaspersky.

Has anyone tried the new version 7.0 of KAV? I'm going to try to update my software and I'll let u know.


Edit: Installed 7.0 and it seems to be running a little bit quicker. Not as fast as if it was disabled though.

I run McAFee V8 and it is relatively quick. But then I am on a DSL line at only 1700Kbs download speed.
Using XP Home and SP2

since whatever happened early this morning the site has been REALLY SLOW.

i noticed the site being rfeally slow in teh past wek, ill click on a link and wait 15+ secs for the page to do its thing, all other sites i go to work fine

i do use Kasperskys free AV program ( Active Virus Shield) ive used it for a long time, never had any issues till this week

Spoke too soon. It's back to its old slow tricks. We've posted over at Kaspersky and it seems they're not in any hurry to fix this. C'mon folks, somebody here must be able to figure out why Anand's forums are one of the few websites with this problem.

VERY slow under 32-bit Vista Ultimate using Panda IS 2007 ... the same machine dual-booting to XP-Pro using ZoneAlarm Security suite (Kaspersky AV) is 100% fine & loads in 1/4 the time, as does my secondary box running XP-Pro & Kaspersky IS v7... no other websites exibit similar problems.

I think it might have to do with the dynamic.anandtech.com servers. Today, the forums were flat out getting stuck loading. The title bar, and some of the borders would load, but no content. The status bar reported that it was connecting to dynamic2.anandtech.com. I already edited my hosts file some time ago to redirect dynamic.anandtech.com to 127.0.0.1, for exactly this reason - page loading was getting held up. Today, I added dynamic2. Reboot to load the updated hosts file, and the forums immediately load.

I don't know what those "dynamic" servers do; it seems all they've ever done for me is slow down page loads.

Jeff7, what exactly did you enter in your host file? I entered
127.0.0.1 http://dynamic2.anandtech.com/*
& it's not working for me.

I am running 7.0 and slow downs are sparatic, I was thinking it was someone doing DOS attacks since it only seems to happen on this site.

Maybe Kaspersky does not like some of ad's on the site and gets stuck scanning them.
