This site is down for maintenance half of the time, far more often than most websites out there. For a website dedicated to technology, it doesn't really seem like the people running this site have any understanding of it. Also, if a site is down for maintenance this much, you would think that they would make improvements during that maintenance, but they never do. It's still the same broken website. Also, the design of this forum is very bad. You have to click on several links to view a list of your personal forum posts, the search bar is hidden beneath a link, etc. Even a novice programmer should be able to realize not to make some of the awful decisions that have been made with this website.

This is the Off Topic forum. It's the wrong forum for this post. -Admin DrPizza

I never understood that at all. I have seen much bigger forums that don't need to go down for maintenance so often.

Also picking a weekend night is kinda silly, that's when there's more traffic. They should make the maintenance at like 5:00am on Tuesdays or something. Everyone is in bed.

Not that I really care, but just saying. If I ran a forum and depended on the ad revenue, I would make sure it's running 24/7. With a proper dev->test->prod procedure there is no reason to bring something down for maintenance.

Exactly. There are much bigger forums that are managed much better. Even posting comments on this site takes several more seconds I've noticed. Everything is managed poorly.

Thank you.

Plus, stop bitching at the mods, we can't fix the forum. That's for the DB/server guys.

I don't see this as a moderator issue, but it does suck. It seems like each "upgrade" makes things worse and worse. "You" folks need to find better wizards...and toss the old ones into the volcano of mediocrity.

I find it to be such a paradox that a website dedicated to technology reflects such a poor understanding of it.

We have no control over it.

The "you" was as in Anand...I realize the moderators aren't involved in this...youse folks have to live with shitty service just like the rest of us.

EDIT: Now that's funny as hell...as I hit "reply," I got this:

Unless someone lives here in the forums a little downtime on the weekends shouldn't really bother anyone.

I came on and saw it was down and went and watched t.v nothing worth making a thread about.

I think the forum section is very organized and whats a few seconds waiting on a message gonna do to you?

Yeah, I've been getting DB errors and extremely slow load times all day today.

Yep, no big deal but then again, I don't need to ask 'what women look for in a man' or 'will this book help me meet women'.

Is there an ignore list that you can use on this website? This Caveman guy literally follows me around to all of my threads and trolls me everywhere I go. I don't want to hear his garbage any more.

It's not vBulletin - there are plenty of sites with larger active user bases (see CAG) that also use vBulletin and are much more responsive.

It's down almost every night around 3-4AM EST during weekdays for maintenance. Unless that has changed since moving to the cloud.
