yeah but what's the point?

Give the natives something else to do? I would think OT would gobble up post count ranks. Recent activity is really just another way to see what's active instead of sifting though each forum.

I think the real strength of this software is when someone replies to your post you actually get an alert and can find it. I can't tell you how many times I made a post or reply and got sick of checking 30 pages to see if there was a reply.

The likes, yeah, yeah, yeah all Facebook like. I find them useful to see if other posters actually liked a post or not. Some forums you make a post in and no one comments even if they liked it or not. There's a mod that lets you expand them into funny, dislike, winner, etc and it for me adds another dimension to posting.

You can tag people out with the @ sign and again I think it adds depth to a thread.

Not that it's a big deal, but something's gone wrong with my trophies.

5+15+30+10+10+5+0+1 = 5?

Permissions issue is still affecting post edits - aware of the issue, working to fix it. Permissions got a little wonky in the transition, but fortunately, all the content migrated over rather smoothly.

Hey Purch guys, is there a way to have a per-user option to disable avatars and inline (user posted) images?

Not for nothing, but I'm an AnandTech guy. Hardly "other" people. 😛
A minimalist option might be available, and if not, there's oodles of mods, add-ons, and plugins we can go for now that we've got a modern forum platform. The wonderful thing about XenForo is that it is incredibly, fantastically extensible. The current iteration you see is a trim vanilla we picked for the port, to make sure all the wiggly bits get moved and stable.

How the hell do you edit or multi quote?

Multi-quote is... an option somewhere here. I'll enable it right now. If it breaks the platform, you buy the beer.

Beyond the default theme, I haven't seen too many issues browsing the forums. I was even able to upload a new avatar (latest iteration of Firefox/Windows 10).

Edit: Testing editing

How on Earth do you even send a PM? I don't see an option for that anywhere 😕
See the little white envelope icon (like ) in the upper-right, on the orange bar? That's how you start "Conversations", which are the new PMs.

Edit: (Yes, I have an edit button) I see a new problem: I tried to post an emoji (&#x1F582😉 but it was blocked. 🙁

Is anybody able to edit their own posts yet? (Besides mods and admins)

Permissions for that should be fixed up, and the brief test I did with a dummy account seemed to work fine.

Avatar upload is working now for me. I think it's just really hard-to-believe slow. In fact, the forums themselves aren't particularly snappy, but that's nothing new.

Yeah I saw that, but how do you select a forum member to start a conversation? I don't see an option to do that, even in the profile of the person you want to PM. The only thing I see is that you can leave public messages on their profile page, but that's not a PM.

I don't like this new system at all. It's very unintuitive.. 😡

Point to the envelope, click "Start a New Conversation", then type the user's name. I see what you mean, though, I don't see a way to start a conversation from a user's post or profile.

I have no problems editing posts now. Though, I didn't really check before when people mentioned the issue.

I can too.

Is editing for an unlimited about of time or is it fixed?

I don't recall what it was previously, but it is currently set to be unlimited. This may change in the near future pending discussion and feedback from the moderation team.
