<user ratings get abused. i wrote a message about it this weekend. a lot of people said "it doesn't mean squat so don't worry about it." it may not mean squat to them, but it means something to someone else. and it means something when they take the time to give you a one out of spite. i got about 12-15 ones because i asked if one was better than ten. one jackass said "that's stupid. you get a one!" a bunch of lame copycats then follwed suit and gave me a one. another dork accused me of giving him a one because we had a disagreement. a bunch of fartknockers believed it so they gave me a one.

a bunch of stupid people, probably pimply teenagers, take out their frustrations on people by giving them a one.>

While it is childish to rate someone just out of spite, it is just as childish to worry about this entire thing. I don't understand it: anonymous people, whom you can't identify, add to a number that is supposed to value your worth. It seems like a lot of people are either a) easily offended or b) insecure such to the point that they obsess over this "rating"

Don't worry if an anandtech member gives you a one, worry if your mom says she hates you

I think everyone agrees that this rating system means sh!t. Any user rating that doesnt hold the rater accountable isnt accurate. Dont worry about it.

This is the usual reply if people questions user rating.
 
My rating stinks too. I don't understand why people rate me so low. They don't know me. I don't make attempts to irk people. Am not a bad person, so why the low ratings?
