Anandtech Forums User Ratings

I was just wandering if there is anyway to tell who has left user ratings . I noticed recently someone had left a rating for me , my 1st one , of 1 . I do not understand why I got a 1 , as I have never had any trouble with anyone here .

Dude, I wouldn't worry about what people vote you as - it means nothing 🙂 BTW - I gave you a 10 🙂

i think it is funny. i could care less, and it means nothing like rbloedow said...🙂

Yeah, the user ratings don't mean sh1t.. what ever you say, there's always someone who gets offended and/or disagrees with you.

Don't worry about it dude, sometimes people will just give you a 1 for no reason. I gave you a 10 to boost you back up. 😀

maybe they dont like your name. It is all amatter of opinion anyways. Speaking of which I need to rate strawberrymom a 1...

Thanks for the answers guys . I didn't think it had near the merit of heatware ( of which mine still hasn't shown up ) . Now I'll have to throw everyone back a 10 user rating for helping out .

user ratings get abused. i wrote a message about it this weekend. a lot of people said "it doesn't mean squat so don't worry about it." it may not mean squat to them, but it means something to someone else. and it means something when they take the time to give you a one out of spite. i got about 12-15 ones because i asked if one was better than ten. one jackass said "that's stupid. you get a one!" a bunch of lame copycats then follwed suit and gave me a one. another dork accused me of giving him a one because we had a disagreement. a bunch of fartknockers believed it so they gave me a one.

a bunch of stupid people, probably pimply teenagers, take out their frustrations on people by giving them a one. 🙂

like what was said before.. that doesnt matter much, people like to screw around.. like i care if ppl here give me 1s GO AHEAD! 😀

and ya.. calling RUSS a lifer would be an understatement..

How did you know that someone gave you a 1? Can you see a list of the value of every vote somewhere? If so, you'll note that you just got another 10! 🙂

Joe

"How did you know that someone gave you a 1?" - what Russ said 🙂 . I don't why I did have just 1 , I have been around here since well before the forum change over in October 1999 - actually one of the first 30 or so to sign up during the change , I just don't post much - usually hanging out in For Sale/Trade and Hot Deals and using pm .

It's easy to tell if you closely monitor your User Rating all the time (why you'd do that is kinda odd, but anyway).

For instance, danzig now has:

User Rating: 6.91
No of votes: 38

If his rating suddenly dropped down to 6.76, which is [(6.91*38+1)/39], with one more vote, then he knows that added vote was a '1'.

To address your original question danzig, some users might give you a 1 because they inadvertently believe that '1' is the highest rating instead of the lowest. I've seen several threads asking just that.

Now in less than 3 hours I have been "rated" 39 times . Some have apparently low balled me , as my average is 6-3/4 🙂 .

Yes, well...someone might have disagreed with something you said

How come when people get 1's for no reason its considered "abusing the system" but when people give 10's for no reason, as in this thread, its not?
