Hey, how is everyone? It's been a while.

Anyhow, here's the backstory. Skip to the bottom for pics.

A very good friend of mine is in a contest to win a kitchen renovation. This particular person helped me through a lot, and I can very honestly say that I would not be the person I am without the time and help she gave me during high school. She's a huge volunteerer, did runs for cancer, heart health, etc. Volunteered time to help with high schoolers, made trips to work on orphanages and drug rehab centers in Mexico, all sorts of stuff.

She and her husband are fly fishing guides up in the Shasta area. Not a high paying profession but allows them to do what they love. She's studying to be a nurse as well, so their pay goes to school and living expenses. No kids right now because they don't want to have them until they can take care of them properly. Shasta is a CHEAP area to live in California; there's really nothing out there. Estimated median income in 2000 was $30,000 a year. Median house value in 2000 was $84,500.

They bought a little fixer upper (one of the pics below) and have been working on it for several years. Issue 1 was to get rid of the rats. The kitchen is as you see it in the voting link - no cabinet doors, leaking sink, the works.

She's a person who has given years of her time to others, and this would mean a lot in her life. So if you've got a second to vote and the inclination to do so, please do.

VOTING LINK

Some of the kitchens have 0 votes, others have close to 10,000, so even though the site layout is poor right now, it's quite a stretch to get her close to the line.

Try to get slash dotted! That would require that you [post this on their forums.

I've never really participated over there; is it the type of place that would take unkindly to a no0b asking for help? I always figured contributing forum members get a better response.

If you've got an account and a presence over there and want to post this, that would ROCK!

sorry but I hate posts begging for people to vote on stuff, we should make a separate forum for this crap. I don't even care that you don't get the new kitchen, and that your friends did not ask you to go whoring the internet for them. I have more respect for the people who just submitted their photo and left it at that.

In life your success is measured by who you know. If you're part of AT and know we can help then go for it! I have to make a mental note that nobody can never help you with anything again because that means you're not achieving anything on your own.
