As much as I may dislike the AWP, I'm a big opponent of an auto-ban for buying one 😉

It's only a 15 minute ban and that's on the 4th time.

Anyone up for a gmae of cs? I'm gonna head in now ifa nyone wants to play.

I'd love to, but I'm at work. 🙁 Missed you last night...thaWolfman and I were having a really good night.

Darn, I would've loved to kick your ass again 🙁

I've unfortuantely had to take down the server 🙁 got a warning from my ISP last night that if it wasn't gone in 24 hours I'd have my net disconnected. Never knew they took so much bandwith 🙁

That sucks.

At least they gave you a warning.

Oops, did I forget to mention the bandwidth use? 😱

Wonder which multiplayer games are the most efficient in that matter, just know that CS eats bandwidth, and RtCW is known to use a lot too.

Thanks to Quosis for hosting it while it lasted.

What's the bandwidth usage like? I'm trying to figure out if I can set up a smallish server. I have two potential connections: a relatively slow (business) DSL connection or a faster (residential) connection.

Thanks!

It takes a solid upload. Cable Broadband typically caps at 128kbps up. 128kbps will serve six Local class C users decently as long as rate is tweaked, but put a high pinger in there and you'll skew the latency through the roof. DSL is much better suited for running a server. But - depending on your ISP and whether they monitor BW usage, it may just be a matter of time before you're shut down.

I ran a 8 player when I had 256kbps and it ran smooth as butter. They capped at 128 and I could run 6 players depending on the map and if I tweaked rate/ ran Adminmod plugins to adjust rate per user/per connection. It really only performed solid for 4 or less players at default settings due to my upload bottleneck.

United Admins and Admin Mod are good places to learn - but put your time in reading and testing before you jump into the forums and post noob questions. They're good guys there but there are too many posts asking for help when the answers are in the FAQ's, other posts, and in the learning. Shouldn't dip the foot in the admin pond if you're not ready to learn the tricks of the trade on your own. If you think the Repost Nazi's are bad in ATOT, just try asking one of the top 50 noob questions in one of those forums! Earn your place though and you'll have Admin friends to get you through.

Anyway, Thanks for hosting a GREAT Server Qosis!. The little time I was able to spend in there was time well spent 🙂

Whos your provider that made you shut it down?? Im using SBC with 1.5mb down 256up. Im a couple blocks from the switch so its a solid fast connection.
I may not setup a server if its the same.
