I may be missing something here by why do they use 1280x1024 for testing? Here is my logic...
640x480 = 4:3
800x600 = 4:3
1024x768 - 4:3
1280x1024 = 5:4
1600x1200 = 4:3

Shouldn't they use 1280x960 or is there some special reason they use that odd resolution?
Here is an example: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1647&p=9

Because many drivers for some reason don't offer 1280x960 by default. Mnay people are running at a 5:4 ratio without even noticing.

Quake3 based games don't support 1280 x 1024, nor does the Radeon.
