Is everthing maxed out when they do these tests in reviews? Curious here about the Q3 scores. Are we talking testures all the way to the right and trilinear filtering?

They never say in their reviews.

Thanks,

LJ

This is a really good point.

Why dont we all agree on a standard setting for Q3A which includes EVERY setting such as in the 'Game Settings' and 'Sound' and standard graphics clock settings. This way we can all compare like for like rather than see scores which are said to have all settings maxed out but forgot to mention that 'High Quality Sky' was set to off.

Cool idea LarryJoe.

This is what I think.

Setting 1

GL Extensions On
Colour Depth 32 Bit
Full Screen On
Lighting Light Map
Geometric Detail High
Texture Detail 4
Texture Quality 32 Bit
Texture Filter Trilinear

Game Options

Marks on Walls On
Ejecting Brass On
Dynamic Lights On
Identify Target On
High Quality Sky On
Sync Every Frame Off
Force Player Models Off
Draw Team Overlay Off

Sound A3D Off
Sound Off

Waddaya think. Only standard Cfg file also. This should not be tweaked as well.

Only 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 resolutions also.

:)

[Edit] I've deleted setting 2

Kewl, I like setting 1 as this is what I run it at. Assuming texture=4 is slider all the way to the right. So I will go first:

1024x768 demo0001:

70 fps

GTS not overclocked and system in sig. 5.22 drivers.

I'm agree with you guys. It's really confusing sometimes, different settings can boost several fps.

By the way, using demo001 (setting 1) I got 72.9 for my DDR overclocked to 150/340 using 5.30

Charles - We need your non overclocked (Video Card) scores.

Right, Demo001, 1024 x 768 Using Setting 1 and my CLAP DDR I got 60.9fps. Oh and using 5.32 Drivers

Hey guys, my Quake III Arena settings are just the 'Normal' settings I simply change the resolution/color depths.

Take care,
Anand

Shagga - I didn't think I had or thought I had a bubble. Good for you for patting yourself on the back though as well as emailing him. I appreciate the great Anand clarifying things, but frankly I didn't cream my pants by him posting in my thread. The settings for benchmarks should be noted in all reviews in the first place.
