sometimes I forget that there's something at the top level domain of this site

other times I accidentally on purpose click the top anandtech link... there's just like... wordy tech overload and I'm like... GAH run away run away! ... and I return to comfort of this precious little community in OT

haha. I visit the home site every day and try to at least skim all the new articles. I read the more interesting ones "cover to cover". You are right that many of them can get pretty technical, certainly I don't understand all of them. I like that though, aren't too many sites out there that go into the kind of detail that Anandtech does.

Do you read the main site much? He's kind of a legend in the tech reporting world actually.

Oddly enough, I've known him to be very well educated on the subject matter, but just never knew how respected he is in the tech community.

Sometimes, when I'm feeling adventurous, I'll read one of his full reports.
:hmm: I take that back... but only somewhat. I never pay attention to the authors, as generally, whatever article or review I want to read, the authors always do a damn good job crafting something very wordy of reading.

I have definitely read a few of the HDD articles, specifically a couple of the SSD articles as I remain interested in the tech. Does Anand mostly focus on only the storage tech?

Would definitely seem fitting that his discussion on Revision was hard drive focused if his primary tech focus is indeed just storage.

CPUs and GPUs are his main thing. You probably know this but he started the sites on Geocities reviewing AMD CPUs when he was a teenager in highschool. Since then of course he has gotten a degree and become one of the louder voices in tech reporting. He really knows what he's talking about and generally is able to communicate complicated tech very well in his articles. As the site has grown he has offloaded much of the reviewing to other editors. He now concentrates on whatever interests him the most at the moment. Right now that is the SSD market. He's the one who elucidated why the Intel SSD drives are so good and the reason behind why the other SSD manufacturers were producing 2nd rate drives.

Indeed. When I do want to read quality tech reporting, it's always Anandtech first.

I used to constantly browse the main page all of the time, constantly keeping up to date with the latest technology coverage, seeing what the best products were and what the upcoming tech was promising.

Lately I haven't been doing that nearly as much. But it's always the first stop if I want something in depth.

The only area I've found myself wishing they would get more in depth with, is with display reviews. They often have some damn good articles, but reviews aren't extremely common.
tomshardware used to be my go-to destination for monitor reviews. They provided so many technical charts and a lot of analysis, but for quite awhile now they haven't been doing anywhere near what they used to.

Thankfully their are some insanely well-versed individuals in the Video Cards and Graphics forum that provide a lot of information on the quality of displays.

I think Anand should shave his head (bald) -- no offense to him or anyone like him, but people who have hair like that (heavy receding hairline) look much much better shaved. Plus with Anand, a bald head and his beard/glasses combo would look nice.

Good video once again though, seems like a nice / knowledgeable guy.

yea ssd ftw.

but yes, shave it off. young with receding hair line looks older.

reminds me of this article

hard to argue with that.

What's the deal with "thanks care" anyway? Did he accidentally type it once or something?

Did he and NFS4 attend North Carolina State together?
