Anand's Asus CUsL2 Mb review!

Damn, that mobo looks very nice. i especially like the increases in fsb speeds in 1Mhz incraments like abit did on their mobo's. The i810 and 820 had many problems, but the i815 looks promising 🙂
 
Very nice, would probably change my P3V4X to it, but probably going to get an A7V instead. They are all nice boards though.

It was hidden in the 815 chipset review and is an Editor's Choice, I think. I've recommended it to some in the forums. I think it beats a BX in many ways. ASUS is really on a roll.

Yea, we can safely assume that. The performance of i815E has been better than VIA 133A, and once again Asus proved themselves one of the best motherboard makers, if not the best.
 
Yep, 200MHz FSB, dont know if anyone can actually get it up that high. But it sure is a good thing. 1MHz increment, take this Abit!
 
I read somewhere that some mb manuf's were talkin about buildin ata100 raid controllers into the 815 mb. I see no mention of that in the review. Has anyone seen any mb's with this yet?
 
Heh, it figures... I just picked up a CUBX and a FCPGA 700E to play with, looks like I might not be keeping the CUBX long. Even though it is a (yet another) nice Asus board.

I'm suprised, I figured 815E would suck. The 810 looked promising but it sucked, and everyone really wanted the 820 and it sucked. Finally the first good Intel chipset since BX.
 
ltk007: A lot of people believed that i815e blows, but I believed otherwise, and it turned out to be exactly what I expected. Again it was Asus who made everything happen, not Abit.
 
geez, why is there a lot of Abit bashing all of a sudden? Their motherboards are awesome too.
anyway, the more i look at that article the more i think that the Asus CUsL2 looks totally awesome and that i need one 🙂 🙂
 
Sorry for the Abit bashing, but I really think CUSL2 kicks SE6's ass. Everyone claims Abit is the motherboard leader and innovator and such, I just want to say otherwise.
 
If only a CPU change for the 370 system was not in order sometime soon and the CPU change from the Willamette and the way intel is in right now...

But I am itching to see how the Athlon Mustang and T-Bird do on a DDR board.

Hardly. ASUS outsells Abit 3:1

ASUS makes better boards. My company will not carry them. We use to with the BH6, and we got way to many back.

I wasnt part of the people that claimed this, in fact I truely believed that Asus is the leader, MSI is the rising star, and Abit is fading since the days of BX6 2.0.



 
I don't like the built in video and only having to slots for PC133. I think I'll wait for the Abit version. I know some people here really seem to hate Abit, but I think they make the absolute best of the best, and they have earned my trust.

Hopefully Abit will have one of these coming soon. 😉
 
Wow this looks like a great board. Is there any reason to buy a p3v4x anymore? The only advantages I see are for the trusty p3v4x is price (it's a lot cheaper) and the option to run the memory bus at 133 when the fsb is at 100.

Kinda wish there were more benchmarks but it look like this new board kicks in the performance categories.

Wonder what clkgen chip is on the cusl2? 🙂

EDIT: Opps, forgot the p3v4x has 4 dimm slots and supports much more RAM.
