I like everything, but the new smiles are very boring. :(:( They definitely need a lot of work.

As you can see in denali's post above, the regular (old) way to insert a link into a post no longer works..

[L]http://www.anandtech.com[/L]

I am also experiencing the problem that the link to every thread in a category is colored as an "already visited" link.

Other than that, I love it!

Guys, enough about the smilies, I hear you. But, they are staying so its just counter productive at this point.

The links I will look at.

One question, what is the difference betweent the print thread and text format? They look the same to me.

All of my threads also seem to be read. :(

And the forum seems to be alot slower. Maybe its just everyone in awe over the new forums. Hopefully it'll speed up soon.

Print and Text are the same, both are there so people who asked for text version of threads know its there along with print.

Viper GTS started a poll thread over in off topic, and it allowed me to delete it.

I was just bug testing, yeah, that's it...

NOX you can still enter links manually, but not the same way they used to be entered: [L]http://www.anandtech.com[/L]

Another thing I noticed is that you cannot unsubscribe from messages from the AnandTech Today Page. (When you click the checkboxes next to the threads from which you wish to unsubscribe and then click "Unsubscribe", it just brings you back to the same page and does not unsubscribe from those messages.)

You can still unsubscribe, however, by clicking on the "Subscribe to thread" button in any thread and clicking the appropriate checkboxes and then clicking "Unsubscribe"

<edit>
Funny how the old style links seem to still work in people's signatures...
</edit>

No Red Dawn, What this is called is a new version of software BETA. Guess people that don't under stand beta processes and how you progress from beta software to final software works. See things aren't perfect when they are new so what we are doing is trying our best to solve issues as they come up. And when you are dealing with software with at least over 60,000 lines of code it takes more than 5-10 seconds to fix it :). Please go easy on us we are doing our best, and if you guys didn't notice over 80% of the features in this product were suggested by you and we implemente them.

were there serious enough problems that you had to go back to the old version Zuni? <edit> its not the old version, is it something in between? (I still see links with the newer method of coding, but the navigation at the top looks old and the smileys are old again.)</edit>

Or had you just heard enough bitching? :p

60,000 lines of code? Good god man! I hope that's including all your stored procedures, views and liberal usage of hard returns. :p

Just giving you a hard time Zuni. ;)

Uhh?isn?t that the whole point of upgrading? I think it?s much better to show just a word rather then the whole link, you know, like 99% of the websites today.

If you want to see my V5 6000 spics click [L=here]http://www.v56000.com[/L]

If you want to see my V5 6000 spics click here: [L=http://www.v56000.com]http://www.v56000.com[/L]

I think I like the first one better.

[EDIT]

[were there serious enough problems that you had to go back to the old version Zuni]

NOX, the forums look like the old ones for me too.

A shame I came to late. I didn't get a chance to see the new version :(

Zuni: (I mean no offense in any of this) Probably not to wise to beta test on a board of this size. Most programmers give betas to a small number of people, not large numbers.

<< Nah, the things showing up as viewed are your end nothing was changed in the code for that at all.
Viewcounter is working fine.
They are listed in the correct order, if there is one.
>>

There are some more times that you say there is no problem. First rule of beta testing, if a tester says there is a problem, there probably is. And if more than one tester say there is a problem, there is one.

One more thing, time zones are listed in order by:
...
+3
+2
+1
GMT (Zulu)
-1
-2
-3
...
and don't forget about the .5s, etc. You can also list them the way the military does (which wouldn't be a good idea) which would go from Alpha to Zulu in order.

Again that wasn't meant to be a bash or a bitch, only a comment.

Red: "Some of us Old Timers still remember the old UBB days and when we can't log on or we get 403's we think back to those old days. "

Oh so true.

My big gripe with the forums is when you post a reply, it sends you back to the first page, NOT the page you were on. Very annoying.

Well,it is getting better.I, for one, appreciate the work you and your staff are putting in,Zuni.
Just please do not dismiss out of hand the concerns of the members. This is a shakedown period.I'm sure it will be nice.
(It is much faster today, and has alot of nice features too.I like it.)

Great glad you like it, thats all we want. Timezones should be in an order that resembles windows now.

Zuni,

I don't know if it is just my browser (IE 4.0), but the Anandtech logo and the little PM icon at the top look really blocky. I can't read the text just under the 'AnandTech' logo either. You may already know about this, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Keep up the good work.

I'm guessing you have a dark background color? People in this thread are experiencing the same problems, and there's a few explanations as to why.
