Hey,
I just posted in the [H]OCP forums with no response yet, so I thought you could use this opportunity to prove your superiority. I just installed 2k, and had no problems other than the fact that some programs generate errors. Winzip, pkunzip, and a lot of other programs that I use every day do this. System specs are:
Athlon 700
Asus K7V
128 Micron @133
Promise ATA100 RAID w/2 30gig 75gxps
Hercules Geforce DDR
Soundblaster Live Platinum
Plextor 8x4x32
Service pack 1 installed with other critical updates
Fresh driver installs all win2k compatible

-Try to beat the [H]OCP guys.
-And try to keep the flaming to a minimum.

-Just signed up for this forum, I hope I'm welcome here :)

> some programs generate errors

Can you be more specific? What kind of errors? BSOD's? Dr. Watson's? When do the errors occur (e.g. when there's a lot of load on the system, when you try to read from your CD-ROM, etc.).

All sorts of programs create erors, on the drive or on the Cd-Rom, Winzip, many setup programs, or even AOLim(I know, *cringe*). Could this be an IRQ crowding problem? Where can I check my assignments in 2k? I have had previous problems with this. Thanks.

Change your PC from ACPI to Standard PC in device manager. This may or may not fix it but I recommend doing it anyways.

did you clean reinstall these progs? or are you running them off a a win98se partition?

IM gives me errors on start up, but i run it off my win98se partition, other than that, i reinstalled winzip and most other programs, however before i reinstall a prog i try to run the *.exe prog off the other partition just to see if it runs.

exactly what errors do the programs give?

by just saying "errors", it could be about 100 million different things :p

also, make sure you have the various patches and such from via and amd for their chip(sets) in win2k. (most are agp related, but they are a good idea none the less)

Thanks guys, it turned out to be a problem with VIA 4 in 1s and my promise card. I appreciate your input.

You guys are aware Win2k has EVENT VIEWER. it lets you view errors that happen. Start/Controlpanel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer
