they are both pretty close in comparison.. and i think Anand did it because there was a "rumor" that the radeon didnt work well with some AMD cpu's

my guess is so that people wouldnt bitch about it.. and say do it with AMD or something... just a guess :p

I believe they use the P4 2.0 because it is the fastest CPU currently available.. when testing a very powerful video card they want to make sure it has plenty of juice to run at it's fullest.

on a Celeron 300A@450 a huge vid card like a GF3 or a Radeon8500 would only perform as good as the CPU. hense is why they use the P4 2.0

to make sure it's the fastest CPU possible to back the powerful vid cards.

and even for other comparisons like memory and motherboard chipsets...

No No guys.... Seriously think about it logically... Does anand want to "retest" all those cards on a new platform? He just compared the Geforce3 Ti 500 with the Pentium 4, I highly doubt he wants to retest the Geforce yet again... It was to save time.

I could be wrong, but that seems the most logical to me.

Yeah, I always forget about the Crucial ad on the home page because I spend most of my time in the forums looking at the Mushkin ad! ;)

I'm sensing a lot of sarcasm in this thread. ;)
