Yo Wingz...don't let these guys get under your skin. You, I, and most of the other members here know these guys are just slinging mud.

Gstanfor, find something better to do in your spare time. I don't go around waking up AMD fanboys to tell them that the P4 has better performance than the Athlon every time Intel releases a new speed grade. If I were a mod, you would get a swift kick in the ass. This sort of stuff is completely uncalled for. Wingznut is a very highly respected member of these forums. Harassing such members in unnecessary and immature, and really degrades from the vast knowledge base that these forums provide. You are not doing anything useful in this thread. Go play Quake III or something to relieve your pent up anger. Don't take it out on other members because of who they are or who they work for.

I don't know why Wingznut and pm tolerate this crap. I really don't know why I am coming to his defense here, but I wouldn't mind seeing people who attack employees take a short vacation until they can show some respect for their fellow board members. Of course he is biased, so? If you worked for AMD, Intel, VIA, nVidia, ATI, Asus, Abit, Gigabyte, MSI, etc. you would have biased opnions on this board too. I would rather have people who work for these companies on this board, so that we have their input. They will not be able to talk about future products, but they probably know a lot about products that people are actually using and be able to provide useful help to people. I for one appreciate that Wingznut lets us know that he works for Intel, that lets me know where he is coming from. I am intelligent enough to keep this information in mind when reading what he writes and I believe most board members are too. I don't always agree with what Wingznut says, but I don't think he's full of BS. I haven't seen Wingznut say 5% of the things people seem to put in his and pm's mouth here.

I wish we would have more employees of companies present on this board, but if we go on treating them like this why should they?

I too clicked on this thread hoping for information about what information was updated, not an attack on another board member.

As for the 11% 2D performance increase, I can only see that being important to a very small percentage of the market. Now 2D quality is important to a lot of people, but I don't see how 2D performance on IG plays into many things. Anyone who cares about graphic performance isn't going to be using IG in the first place. IG is quite popular, because for general PC tasks like Web browsing, checking e-mail, using office tools, graphics performance doesn't matter anymore.

[Edit: Now don't take me as saying 11% 2D performance improvement is a bad thing. It can't hurt. However, I wouldn't make a purchasing decision for office computers based on it.]

Matrox cards are used for their 2D quality, not for their 2D performance IMO. If this was a discussion on quality, I could see this being relevant.

Thats like 90% of the pc market.
True, however most of us around AT, and the world don't buy motherboards because of its IG 2D performance. Also lets not forget who dominates that "90%" of the pc market, because it's surely not AMD (in reference to the nforce).

I feel like echoing this. It sums up my feelings frighteningly accurately. I can't imagine a more childish way to behave. You know, someone said something in another thread that I really liked, but I can't find/remember who this way, so credit to them.

"The problem is...
1) You're an idiot.
2) Even worse, you're an idiot who thinks he's smart."

You know when people ask 'What the heck will I need 6 GHz for in 2004?', I've got an fanciful dream - design a maturity rating program to keep uncivilized folks from posting. Or perhaps something to ensure a person won't post something they wouldn't dare say to someone's face. A man can dream, can't he? Hiding behind a computer and flinging insults is a lovely to spend your time, ain't it?

I'm personally looking forward to purchasing an nForce2 mobo when it comes out. But now I feel dirty for doing so, knowing that in some small way I'll be associated with people like this.

Don't worry, this guy in no way is representative of AMD users as a whole. He's just some fanboy who got his panties in a wad over something. I, too, find it funny when I hear people say things like "What the heck will I need N speed CPU for??" I remember when the Pentium first came out, I was reading in a magazine that it could scale up to 2-300MHz within a couple years and being in virtual awe of that much processing power (this was when the 486DX2/66 was the high end chip) and wondering what we would do with that much CPU power. Obviously, a lot has changed in the last 10 years that has changed that opinion, and things will change in the next 2 years that will make us want a 6GHz CPU - distributed computing working units you could crunch with a chip like that! :p

mmm, i remember the good old days of running half life on a PII in software mode. :)

I'm glad to see that a whole bunch of AMD fanboys didn't come along and start flaming with Gstanfor. It reassures me that the AT community is a knowledgable and mature one. There are always going to be people who go against the norm, but for the most part I feel this is true. Let's just ban Gstanfor and make the community a little better. Hehe. I'm glad AMD has a good chipset backing them as well, but I am not going to go shove it into people's faces. That's like me driving up to Intel's headquarters with a printed out article about the nForce2 chipset and saying, "Look, AMD owns you, Hahaha, what are you going to do about that! 11% performance improvement in 2D applications! There is no comeback for that!" Give me a break. They'll just say, "Who has more market share again? Ok, then shutup."

yeah, actually I think that all of the security guards have that printed underneath their name badges.
