Anand talks tablets

I totally agree with him, we must have synergy across our devices, being able to move easily from the office, to smart phone, over to laptop, then to our tablets quickly!

The pieces are all there, just not all in one place:

Doesn't microsoft call this Window 8 or is it just a perceived illusion 🙂

I gotta better name for the scenario but I'm holding out for the highest bidder!

This is largely why I am buying an iPhone. I love my iPad 2 and the Android tablets just aren't cutting it for me. Two different mobile ecosystems just doesn't work. Out with the Android phone and in with the iPhone.

So he basically wants all of his other devices constantly connected to the internet and refresh data while he works on his phone so that the moment he touches the other devices, he would be on the same page as the phone? (now, imagine he took 100 pictures of a toy model for the past hour...)

Or is he asking for a way to sync up the work he had done for the last 24 hours on his laptop onto his tablet so that he can immediately pick up the tablet and continue where he just left off a second ago? Now imagine he just finished converting 10,000 photos in Lightroom 3 and now he wants to change the preset for specific ones of those photos.

I think we are running into some serious walls there... very serious walls.

I think of it as more like being able to transition between devices in a logical manner. Your example of Lightroom 3... yeah, that's not going to happen. It's the idea of being able to transition things such as a browser state between objects, and I think this can be done easily on a software basis.

As I mentioned, I'm pretty certain Firefox has a feature like this that lets you share your tabs across devices.

I actually have an issue now where I can't even transition between iOS devices without a ton of hassle. Let's say I'm playing Kenken (Sudoku + Math) on my iPhone, and now that I'm home, I want to play it on my iPad instead. I can't do that... there's no way to transition my game state between two iOS devices unless you use some crazy jailbroken work-around or the game supports sharing saves via iTunes (very few do this).

I've been complaining about this for awhile now. 😛
