If Intel wants people with i7's to upgrade they need to provide an incentive. Right now I would only consider it if virtually all of them OC to 4.5 and higher. I might be able to keep my current CPU for 3 years which hasn't happened since I have owned a PC.

One thing I think is bad, who would buy a current 1156 board now.

The SB is around the same price at current CPUs but works better and has a upgrade path. 1156 is overpriced (compared to SB) and has little upgrade.

note how there is no 2011 lineup for extreme.

yet they note it as > or = to 990

Maybe they are leaving the door open to a early LGA2011 release if BD is launched and beats the 990X.

so how come your allowed to say this and not get shot, while if i say it everyone asks for a ETA?

Anand seems pretty happy with them pretty big difference compared to everyone around here saying SB isn't worth looking at till 2011 drops.

Looks good! Amazing improvement in GPU performance. If that was a "1 core" gpu, and the faster stuff will be "2 core" then WOOOHOOO....this will do GREAT things for PC gaming!!!!

What ? I saw no mention of GPU anything in that review.

I'm excited, especially as the TDPs are so low.

Though if bulldozer can match that it'll be interesting.

Something tells me that nobody is worried about that ;)

I like the base clock frequencies.

On a side note, who the hell is coming up with the naming schemes over there? i7 was bad enough, but I kind of got used to it.

I predict that if BD is competitive intel will magically remember how to unlock every cpu that they sell. If bulldozer is late/slow ala barcelona, we will have 3 overclocking choices:

1. amd's older crap
2. 1366/1156 intel
3. spend shitload on 2011

I really hate this move. All enthusiast consumers should, because if intel felt that BD was going to be competitive they never would have gone down this route in the first place.

It came first before the CPU performance results. Here.

This will certainly set a new standard for both IGP and low-end discrete cards. From here on (well, at least from SB launch), all other IGPs will have to be just as fast (~2x what they are now), and the low-end cards will have to be even faster than that.

are all the skt 1155 cpus going to have integrated graphics, even the bottom of the barrel? amd is fine because they will have their own (presumably) competitive integrated graphics, but what is nvidia going to do? this helps underscore why they have been so aggressively attempting to branch out into markets other than discreet gpus, and shows that maybe amd wasn't so crazy to spend $5 billion on ati.

Wow, I missed that. I guess too much working, and not enough playing, while at work.

where is the overclocking???

"While multipliers were locked, Intel left FSB overclocking open."

Im guessing anand failed lol..

Remember what i said about that FSB ocing.. LOL...

i7 880 and i5 760 Turbo Modes

i7 880
Base-3.06GHz
1 core-3.73GHz
2 cores-3.60GHz
4 cores-3.33GHz

i5 760
Base-2.80GHz
1 core-3.46GHz
2 cores-3.33GHz
4 cores-2.93GHz

It looks like both the CPU and GPU results are still being sandbagged. :)

what sort of integrated graphics capability are we expecting from Llano? 5450 or better?

Did you read the words above it?

anandtech review said:
What we have below is the Intel roadmap, with Sandy Bridge included, for Q3 2010 through Q3 2011. The further out you go in a roadmap the lower your accuracy becomes, so I wouldn’t worry too much about us not seeing LGA-2011 on there yet.

intel has thrown down the igp gauntlet, now it's up to amd to beat it. maybe larrabee wasn't a complete waste of money after all.

edit: looks like inteluser2000 beat me to it. 5570 would be significantly faster. wow.
