I know some of you bypass the AnandTech home page and don't always see the info posted there.Of coarse, there is so much better info here, right?:Q
He is asking you to fill out a non invasive questionair.its only 10 questions, and I'm sure he would not ask unless it was important.

Please visit the home page and fill out the form. It will only take a moment out of your busy day.

just click on the AnandTech logo upper left of this page, and then click on Help AnandTech in the site news block in the upper left of the screen.

Please feel free to bump this as needed.😉

Yep... the income thing was a shock. I was about to try and figure out my income when I saw that less than $50,000 was the lowest I could go. At least I didn't have to figure anything out 😀

And I agree that some N/A would be helpful for an accurate survey.

Requiring an answer to the income question is a no-no. Asking is OK, but requiring it is not.

I had the whole thing filled out but it won't accept the survey unless all questions are answered. If they make that question optional, I'll do it.

Just did it. Afraid I really didn't have much to offer😱, but I hope he can use the information anyway..... -kd5-

Bakwetu,

You're a college student. You're supposed to be poor.🙂 Riches will follow the foundation you are now building.

LOL that's a good one Dennis, not they won't since I'm not in a commercially interesting field of research. Actually, most likely I'll be unemployed after my PhD. It has never been easy getting a position at the universities, but these last years it has become almost impossible if you're in the "wrong" field of science. The cutbacks of the ninties is still roaming in the university world. When a professor retires, his position won't be replaced (at my faculty 13 positions won't be replaced) and they are currently shutting down one department (Finnish/Urgic languages) and the historical museum is also going down 🙁

Actually I wish Anand would have clarified the use of the survey alot more. One that will show him what we want would have questions like "which of the following do we not provide enough coverage on a.)cpus b.)video cards c.)memory etc." This looks a whole lot more like a nice survey for demographic info to show prospective advertisers. Oh well he deserves to make money off the site I just scratched my head a bit at the explanation of the survey 🙂

Soybomb

Demographic info can be pooled with other data from many sources that may give the reader definitive data inwhich to funnel resources. That might get to manufacturers setting prices or targeting products to meet demands based on demographic data.

It would amaze you to know how many people use AnandTech as a basis for thier buying decesions. These forums are only a small part of that demographic,I would suspect. There are far more who read the many reports and bench tests here and at Tom's HW and other sights that directly influence buying AND manufacturing decesions.

Do we get flooz or a GC for filling it out? hehe..jk. Already done. I guess scholarships count as income, correct? In that case, me and my roomates are pulling down a hefty sum each year. Too bad we never get to see any of it 😛

EDIT: oh, and here's a swift kick to ALF's butt for being such a tool.
