And that makes him a local god. If someone doesn't appear in public all that much, but is extremely wellknown and admired, you get people sucking up at every opportunity. Which doesn't encourage them to show their faces more often, when the entire geek community wants to suck up to you.

Why do you people act like Anand is a god or something? He runs a tech site that got very popular when there were only few tech sites, but he is still a normal person who just has a bit of money. I respect what he has here but I find it a little amusing that everyone feels the need to see if they can get him to post to a thread about him, like it's Jesus about to make an appearance. Man, it's so childish. The funny thing is he almost never replies to posts about him either. Oh well, whatever makes you happy I guess. This isn't at all meant to be a shot against Anand, I just have my priorities straight, and worshipping someone who runs a tech site isn't something I feel the need to do. *puts on flame retardant suit and awaits Anand's minions
