I like how despite how gruesome the details are they omit that the patient starves to
death like a rat in a dirty cage. Couldn't they just give her a lethal injection for godsake. I
blame idiot ethicists and even more idiotic sanctity of life polemicists .

Ethicists? Ethicists don't necessarily oppose lethal injection. Who specifically are you thinking about?

I'm referring specifically in this case to the fact that its deemed medically ethical to
kill the patient in such a manner. However thinking about it, there could be a number
of other issues at work, organ donation possibilites, the fact that Shiavo is
braindead and likely not in any agony etc... I think my first reaction was to wonder why
people would deem Kavorkian's assisted suicides less ethical than letting Schiavo's body rot in place.

A few years ago, my family had to make the heart-wrenching decision of letting my grandmother go. She was too stubborn to make a living will before her stroke, so the decision was laid upon my aunt and my father. We discussed it as a family and decided that the most appropriate action would be to do exactly what's happening to Terri Schiavo. We (through years of conversations) knew though she didn't want to live that way and she didn't want to be a burden on the family in that way. She wanted us to remember her as she was, not as a vegatable in a bed.

The fact that some people want to take our family's rights away like this is just plain bastardly.

Did anybody in your family object to this? It doesnt sound like your case and this case are similar.

The point is that thousands of people make these decisions on a daily basis. How dare some people tell me and those thousands of others daily that they're murderers or unethical.

i dont believe anybody here has have they? I certainly dont feel Micheal is a murderer nor do I feel you are. But I felt with the situation presented a federal court would be a good idea in this case. The feds have ruled and I have no problem with it.

"Right now, murder is being committed against a defenseless American citizen in Florida," DeLay said. "Terri Schiavo's feeding tube should be immediately replaced, and Congress will continue working to explore ways to save her."

This is absolutely absurd. There was wide bipartisan support for the Schiavo bill. It literally flew through Congress.

No... way too early to be a factor. Besides, the Dems would have to take a very controversial "Right-to-die" platform on... which is also a bad idea, politically.

Perhaps if more Democrats voted (they were leaning to Nay)
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2005/roll090.xml

It passed by voice vote in the Senate so there's no record of Yea/Nay.

A bit more detail on that Sunday Senate vote:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld...,87838,print.story?coll=la-home-nation
The legislation passed the Senate on Sunday under the chamber's unanimous consent rules. Three senators were on the floor ? Frist, Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) and John W. Warner (R-Va.).
Wow...what a huge bipartisan showing!

If the Democrats didn't even show up to the Congress, they wouldn't have been able to vote at all.

The federal judge refused to order the reinsertion of the feeding tube, correct? So all of this political whoring by the GOP was for naught as far as I can tell...

Oh no, they'll still claim victory by saying "It was the liberal, activist judges!" or some such retardedness and stupidity.

Yes, there were a BUNCH of Democrats who voted FOR this bill as well, underscoring *yet again* that Democrats and Republicans are the SAME PARTY.

Don't go defending the Dumb-O-Crats, man, they are just as damn guilty as the RepubliCONS are. There is NO MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE between a Democrat and a Republican in politics. The sooner we all realize that change is going to require dumping BOTH of these scumbag loser parties, the better off we'll be and the better chance we'll have at SAVING some semblance of Freedom.

Sometimes I wish we could take Congress, turn it upside down and shake it really hard. The crap will fall out the doors, onto the street, while a streetsweeper awaits them.

Hell yes :) I've been convinced for years that our Founding Fathers would be appalled and ASHAMED of both the Republican and Democratic parties.

This may not be it but there will come a time when the zealotry is unopular again. The look on the fundie-nuts faces when the population won't go with their voodoo garbage will be priceless.
