analogic vs. digital

is there much of a difference between the analogic and digital signal?. My brand new monitor only works with the analogic cable and not with the DVI since the very first moment. I don´t want it to be repaired (don´t trust technicians and I´d be some weeks without it). Of course they don´t want to replace the monitor though I have had it only for ten days (Samsung, thank you very much).

Sorry for my spelling.

Regards

It's "analog", not "analogic". 😛

If the DVI input on your monitor does not work, you should RMA it (they should send you a new one; tell them it's defective). Of course, you should verify if possible that the DVI output actually works from your video card and that you aren't screwing up somewhere.

Depending on whether there is a lot of EMF in your environment, it may not make a big difference. It also makes more of a difference on some monitors than others; DVI gives you 1:1 pixel mapping on an LCD display, which gives you 'perfect' geometry with no screen adjustments necessary.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, my graphic card is working properly (I have checked it with another monitor)

No RMA at all. They say that the warranty depends on the manufacturer and Samsung only accepts to repair it. Of course, this will be my last Samsung monitor.

Well, most manufacturer's warranties do say that they will try to fix the item, then replace it at their discretion. Not all that unusual. If you weren't satisfied with that in terms of warranty coverage, you should not have bought the monitor. Caveat Emptor and all that.

As for your problem: maybe try getting ahold of someone higher up at Samsung tech support? They might be willing to cross-ship you a replacement if you charge it to your credit card, or something like that. If they aren't willing to budge, you don't have much choice.
