Is there such a thing as an Analog to DVI adapter? I know there are DVI to Analog but we have a laptop that a user wants to use her larger DVI based flat panel with. Anyone know if its possible? I can't find adapters that work that way ...just the other way around of course.

Yes they are out there, just do a serarch on google. "VGA to DVI".

You need to make sure that the monitor can support a non digital feed. Since there is only vga out on the laptop, and hence not digital.

I don't think you'll have success with this. The DVI input on the flat panel expects a digital signal -- but you have none to provide. No adapter cable is going to change that.

There are three different DVI configurations: DVI-A, designed for analog signals, DVI-D, designed for digital signals, and DVI-I (integrated), designed for both analog and digital signals.

It is possible to go from VGA to DVI-D. Possible, but costly. SGI retails such a kit at $15K. However, why buy something that expensive when you can get it for $300. While you can find cheaper adapters (search Google with "VGA to DVI"), I doubt that they work.
