When I install Windows XP Pro. and I get the main screen at the end were it shows "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" with "Please Wait" under it, that's what it does just sit's there not even getting into Windows. It just locks up the OS and allows me to move the PS/2 mouse never enter Windows with the blue screen.

I have tried the following.
o Updated the Bios to the latest
o Tried another video card
o Tried another hadr drive

It does the same thing no mattter what.

System Configuratio
o ABIT AN7 motherboard
o Kingston 333 DDR memory
o ATI 9200 AGP video card

I have played with the CMOS setting until I knew it better then my wife...LOL

Whens the last time it worked? and, what have you changed since then?

These might seem like stupid questions, but I don't know what you've done exactly.

Is your RAM and/or all your other hardware properly hooked up?

You said you messed with the BIOS. Did you try reseting them to both the Fail Safe and Optimized settings?

Hows your power supply doing? new? old?

One thing that I didn't mention is that the hard driveis a IDE not SATA. I have been building computers for a long time and never build a AMD just for this reason. To answer your question.

o This is a new build.

o The system booted from day one it only hangs at the very end when you click on "Monitor Sttings" and you then see "Microsoft Windows XP Pro." and under it say's "Please Waite..it's about this time a blue windows should open saying ----> "Welcome"<------

o All the hardware / RAM is installed correctly other wise the OS would not load / install to the very end

oWhen I was in the "Bios" I did try "Fail Safe" and "Optimized Settings", after usung this I cahnged some of the things that I would like to use..settings that is for Windows ..like USB.

o Like I stated the until is new, there is nothing used or borrowed.

o Motherboard is a ABIT-AN7 ( makes me wonder why they call it Abit, because it only works ABIT)
o AMD +2800
o Kingston 333 DDR / 256 MB
o Combo DVD / CDROM
o 80 Gig Hard Drive / Hatachi --->IDE--->NOT SATA
o ATI 9200 AGP Video

Thanks for tying to help, before I do RMA this ( ). Since Im not using SATA but IDE does it matter if so is there something in the Bios / cmos that I should change? The other question I have is how can you tell what the correct setup is in the bios???

You computer should be able to run with just the default settings in the BIOS. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you specifically what you need to change in the BIOS, if thats the case. Just keep bumping this post. OR call ABIT. What do you have to loose?
