An update on GTA4 from ign - they play a near complete version

I can't read it from here. What do they say about the framerate?

At the very end, it said that the framerate issues on the 360 version seem to have been ironed out.

Here's the exact quote:

Grand Theft Auto IV is looking fantastic at this point. The framerate has been solidified (on the 360 at least - PS3 demos are coming soon) and the gameplay looks to be wholly intact. There's no official release date yet, though we should be hearing about that sooner than later, and we fully expect Rockstar to keep with its previous fiscal Q2 timeframe (which means by the end of April). We, for one, can't wait for its release.

That is encouraging. I assume by fixed they mean it is a solid 30 fps. I can deal with that. The trailers were just really choppy.

I agree. I hope it runs better than the PS2 versions of the series... those were painful.

Yep. That's pretty much why I've never played GTA. I just couldn't get past the crappy graphics and terrible framerates in previous versions.

This game is going to be amazing. I cannot wait to sink my teeth in to this game. I hear rumors about the DLC for this game is going to be pretty impressive in size. As in, maybe not just a weapon--but a show episodic thing with hours of gameplay added.

They announced additional episodes as DLC long, long ago.

I didnt say anything about the episodic part being a rumor. Where did you get that? I said that its rumor that they're impressive in size--as in, bigger than expected.

I am sure it will be a fun game, but I can't get into GTA games. Instead of doing missions, I would end up just free-roaming by myself, wrecking havoc, and just get bored of the game.

That's what I do when I play them, I couldn't care less about the story and other crap. That is part of the reason I hate that they lock parts of the city (although at the same time I can understand it). I only played GTA 3 (which is the only one I really played much at all) only far enough to open up the whole city. I still find it fun for a while.

Does this one have multiplayer? I haven't kept up on it as overall the series doesn't interest me too much, so I know pretty much nothing about it. I watched one of the trailers but that was it and didn't really tell me anything.

Part of the reason I haven't been the biggest fan of these games is that they seem really buggy to me. There were all sorts of issues (clipping, bad collision detection, etc) with GTA 3, and I noticed they had not really improved things much if at all on Vice City. The one GTA clone gang game on the 360 I played the demo and I kinda liked it but it also suffered from similar technical issues.

Yes. It will have multiplayer. Details are scare though so there's not much to know yet as far as I know (unless anyone else has info)

remember Valve also announced episodic content for half-Life 2...takes 2 years for 4hours worth of game.

The one thing I hate in GTA games and all games...escort missions. Try to protect some fool from death in a mission and I usually just stop playing right there.

I look forward to the multiplayer. If the single player shoot outs are anything like Uncharted Drakes Fortune then I will be happy with the game.

I know some people are upset about the release date and want it here sooner, but really, I say take as long as you need to make an amazing game.

After reading those new previews, it looks like Rockstar really listened to the critics and consumers and changed a lot of things including the antiquated shooting/fighting system.

Damn, I'm really looking forward to this.
