This. Threads are the combined history of all participants. Letting the OP delete threads is just begging for abuse. You can suggest it but it shouldn't be implemented.
Until the mods find out, restore your posts, and then ban you.If it really becomes an issue for you, just go through every thread you've made and delete everything you've written. Unless someone quoted you, then you're screwed.
People like that shouldn't be allowed to post on the internet. If they find a solution to a technical problem they should post it for posterity's sake. Those folks tick me off because they don't know how to forum. They constantly take and never give back which isn't healthy for the forum.Allowing a user to delete their own thread if nobody has posted in it should be allowed. We see quite a few "mods please delete" threads floating about. It generally happens because you ask for help and then 2 minutes later fix your problem and think "ffs I've just made a thread now".

Are you suggesting that the ability to abuse a feature and create havoc should be left to the posters' discretion? In cases where a poster realizes they didn't need to make the thread and there have been no replies, it's a click or two for the mods to remove it. If a poster wants the thread removed, and there are a lot of posts where members have contributed, we generally just lock those threads.I agree in principle, but when you post a thread asking why your printer doesn't work and then you realise it's not plugged in you don't want a thread there reminding you of your stupidity
These threads get changed to "nevermind" or "mods delete" so they end up serving no purpose if left to remain anyway.
