"Dear (King)George,
I am humbled. I did not think we could defeat them. I now know you were right.
What was I thinking? We are the greatest power the world has ever known.
Our great fleet alone could defeat any country on earth.
I don't know why I thought a group of rag tag, poorly armed "militia" could defeat us.
I guess I thought that with their belief God was on their side they would never give up and never surrender.
I did not realize the great masses of people are grateful for us and the insurgents just a small minority of radicals.
Our military might has sure taught them a lesson they will never forget.
I see we now have them on the run. Our government is in place. The people are tired of war and recognize that we are bringing them order and stability. The people now know we seek not much from them. A few trade concessions and the like.
Anyway, I would like to apoligize profusely for doubting your wisdom.
Your humble servant, George Grenville.
Prime Minister.
