An ongoing saga of RMA's, videocards, and fractals

I bought a new video card. Here is the Newegg Link.

Upon receiving said video card, I installed it in my computer and had issues which resulted in "fractals" (I guess that's what these are called):

I tried Omega drivers and ATI drivers. When I still had issues, I RMA'ed it back to Newegg. I received a new one today.

I still have the exact same issue. Here is my system:

ASrock 775-dualVSTA (note this is an unusual motherboard)
Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 (not overclocked)
1gb DDR333 Ram
Asus 3850

This is the return policy on the card:
-----------------------------------------

Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy

* Return for refund within: non-refundable
* Return for replacement within: 30 days

This is our Detailed Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy. Products that state "This item is covered by Newegg.com's Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy", or items labeled as ?Non-refundable? (or similar labeling) must be returned to Newegg.com within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. Products covered by this return policy may only be returned for a replacement of the same item.

-----------------------------------------

Any ideas? If not, is there a way to get Newegg to credit me the money for another purchase or something?
RMA'ing the card AGAIN seems pointless to me at this point. Any ideas/help/advice is appreciated.

"artifacts" not fractals :)

What is your power supply? watts, and if you know them the 12v amps.

What's the temperature of your card while all this is happening?

If you don't know, download ATiTool and run the included artifact test.

I would vote for PSU or other piece of hardware. Also possibly could be software. I had the same problem many years ago with an Athlon T-Bird that I unlocked with a #2 pencil. Somehow when I upgraded to an Athlon XP everything was fine.

That power supply doesn't have nearly enough current on the 12V rail. I vote that as being your problem.

Agree with that! 18A on the +12V rail, and that's a MAX rating? Weak......

And the Tt 430 never was regarded or seen as a high quality power supply anyway.....esp. compared to others in its power range, like the Corsair VX450, which is rated to put out 33A on its +12V rail and has demonstrated exactly that in testing.

To only rate for 216 volt MAX output on the +12V rail, out of a "430"W power supply.....just sad. Esp. when you compare it to others that manage to put out close to 400W on their +12V rails......like the aforementioned Corsair, the Enhance ENP-5140GH, and others.

Tt should be shot for putting out such junk.......

And OP....go get a real power supply of decent quality......that is your problem.

TT430 has been out for almost 4 years

The PSU is rated at 18A, but it actually delivers only 16A! It's pretty bad.

That very same PSU gave me lots of artifacts with my 3870. Lockups, too.

I changed it to a PurePower RX 600W and the artifacts and lockups are gone. Oh, and I squeezed 200 extra Mhz from my CPU on overclock! :D Will attempt 3 Ghz once I get a better cooler...

Change it. I'm sure it's been the source of all your problems.
