In my home we have a 15 gallon fish tank filled with striped garter snakes, there are 7 snakes, mom & pop plus five children, inside thier tank lies a water bowl which I fill with 40 to 50 baby toughies (A type of goldfish), the snakes hunt them down in the bowl and eat them alive, what's really curious though is the fact that the snakes always leave one left in the bowl, even if I forget to feed them on the required date (once a week, usually every friday).

Do you think they are leaving that one goldfish alive as a food stash for leaner times ?
