An LCD question

I've just bought a Samsung 171s 17inch LCD monitor.
I wanted to give Medal Of Honor a go yesterday, but dear oh dear.
I was half expecting a reduction in performance but this is like move the mouse, go out all night and party, then when you've sobered up in the morning the pointer might have moved 🙁
Well, maybe not that bad, but it's move the mouse and five or ten seconds later the pointer moves.
Is this normal ?
Could it be my Geforce 4 mx 420 perhaps?
I'm running an Athlon XP 1900+ with 512 mb PC2700 as well.

It's your video card.... your monitor isn't 'slower' in that regard... Although I would have gone for the 172 series, with the 16ms response time...

I would have gone with the 172 series if it was in your price range, but as for the lagging problem, its your video card. I don't play that game but I believe its more of an OpenGL problem with some slower cards.

Any Radeon, 9500 or higher, and any Geforce, Ti 4200 and up will play MOH at 90+ fps at 1280x1024 with graphics options wide open. My dad had a gf2 mx420(?), almost the same as yours, and MOH at 640x480, with all gfx settings low would produce 30-40 fps with little or no action. And with high action sequences it would drop below 10fps, making it unplayable. Even a $75 64mb ti4200 would blow you away if you are used to the gf2, but I would suggest going with a DX9 card(9600p is good for the $) so that it's not obsolete with next years games.

The 172 only has a 25ms response time.
