CNN had an Iranian Muslim explain the significance of the why the Ayatollah Khomeini mausoleum was blown up.
He did caution however, that the reporst it blew up were from the government controlled media, so we will have to wait and see if it really did.
But if it was blown up he explained that it was probably feared by the mullahs that Mousavi would go there and claim sanctuary under Islamic law.
Apparently there is a very strong religious component of Islamic law that allows a muslim to seek sanctuary in a religious icon.
The government feared Mousavi would go there and they couldn't touch him without arousing the anger of their own supporters.
And that Mousavi could even run an insurrection from within its walls.
I found this very interesting and just thought I would share it.
