Wouldn't it be funny if the increased temperatures from global warming causes trees to exhale more CO2? :p

I thought the movie was good. The data and facts were all there, but it was presented in a somewhat skewed way. BTW, Gore did a good job at narrating. He didn't sound boring at all, in fact, he was charming. I suppose that's what politicians are supposed to be good at, though.

Global warming is very, VERY real. Man made global warming is definitely open for debate, however. Regardless of the truth, the actions "global warming alarmists" are suggesting we take would help humanity and the planet immensely. We don't need a nasty problem to arise before we get off our asses. I cannot stand the fact that so many people are acting like the frog in a pan of water being brought slowly to a boil.

Stop being the reactionary type, please...

However, if you're incapable of changing your mind, or taking in facts, you should just not pay attention to the world around you. You'd be doing us all a favor (including yourself) by not getting in the way of advancements and science. I'm not being mean here, I'm serious.

Of course, there are also the people who literally don't give a flying f*** about the future of the planet or its inhabitants. Those people can go die, IMO.

 Indeed, it seems the only way to get some frogs to jump out of the water is for it to already be boiling and by then, it is too late. Echo the "get out of the way" sentiments, if you can't believe it or at the very least desire a cleaner planet to live on, then burry your head in the sand as far as I am concerned but keep stop being pimples on the ass of progress imo.

I've seen it and I recognize that a lot of it is complete and total crap where the way it is presented misleads people. I understand that it would go against the goal of the presentation to give any information that could give credit to the opposite opinion. All information given to a person needs to be taken with some skepticism. You can't see one movie, read one article, hear one thing from a friend and assume the best or worst. I know that in most questionable situations you can find as many people that support some theory as people that don't, and in most cases it turns out that it's not ENTIRELY crap, even if most of it is or isn't.

Most importantly, I also know that:

-The cost of making an effort to change our ways and having global warming be a load of crap is minimal... in comparison to cost of doing nothing and have it be entirely true.

-It's inevitable that our fossil fuels will diminish and the prices for extracting and processing them will rise to unbelievable proportions... and the current rate of progress in cost-effective fuel efficiency is slower than the rise of fuel costs.

-Money cannot fix the world. News media cannot fix the world. Politicians cannot fix the world. Science can... or at least it has the best shot. Know where your info is coming from. Al Gore is a politician. His job is to persuade people that he's right and that they should follow him. Why would he take any different of an attitude in this movie?

I agree! Good job!

There is always more than one side to a story... and most people don't bother finding out the other side.

Ditto, sounds like a fair and reasonable way of handling things. Sounds like your instructor is sorta of not being intellectual honest by having that so-called 'professional' come in and talk about the movie.

Does no one realize that the world has been far warmer in the past, before modern society, as well as far colder? The earth's climate fluctuates more based on solar conditions than a slight change of gases (water vapor is a FAR more potent greenhouse gas than CO2). The counter to Al Gore's movie sums it up fairly well:

Yeah, see the problem with that theory is that trees use carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, not the other way around. ;)

i agree
the Sun is the main factor
so we need to shoot ice or something into the Sun to cool it down to fight global warming
i had linked to a canadian newspaper article on this a while ago, it detailed the Sun activity and correlated it to the higher temp periods

We really have very little real knowledge on solar energy and solar activity patterns.

We do know that solar energy is on an upward trend, but have no idea of the real intensity increase, the chemical changes to the atmosphere or how much the troposphere is actually warmed by the solar energy and in what proportionality to other causes.

we need to have all our robots expel their exhaust gasses from the same place at the same time, thus creating enough thrust to move the earth a tiny fraction away from the sun, thus reducing global temperatures.
