an incident at the mall parking lot

You get the spot, but you admit you egged on the nut so no love w/the gf may be your own fault. But speaking calmly to crazy people driving them even crazier is always fun and worth a little gf angst. Plus gfs like fake drama so they can have make up sex. Better a fight over your parking stunt than a fight over you looking up the skirt of that chick on the mall escalator.

WTF... It's July and it takes 30 minutes to find a spot at your mall? That's absurd. I wouldn't even go to a mall like that.

garden state plaza, you might be familiar with it.
you should try coming here during christmas.

Never been there, but being as that you're in NJ, I'd go to one of the other nearby malls unless it has some exclusive store. Are all of the malls in Paramus that crowded?

I avoid the mall like the plague between Thanksgiving and Christmas... I hate crowded parking lots, and I hate crowds.

paramus and the roads leading leading there, Rt 4/17, are horrendously packed.
it's not just the mall but other strip malls, specialty stores in that region that really overcrowd the region.

GS plaza is a nice HUGE mall and has just about everything which is why it's so popular.
my other options are jersey gardens in elizabeth (ghetto), or out west (short hills, willowbrook malls - not as large) or south jersey (menlo park, woodbridge - too far).
or i'll just go upstate ny and go to palisades mall.

Unsurprising how your gf acted, chicks always stick up for each other. Some kind of sisterhood crap or whatever.

That said, order online next time. Or take the bus.

New Jersey, eh? Sounds like describing people on good behavior. 🙂 Nothing like miserable people screaming and yelling at the world around them. These are the first people to die during a catestrophe.

Man, I was just there (for "happy hour" after work, never for shopping). Parking is terrible. The people are worse.

I've had insane stuff happen there, actually, so I'm not surprised by your encounter. One time I was leaving the parking lot with a few co-workers in the car, and I put my signal on as I was going to turn left to get out of the place. I was passing an open spot (a rarity there), and apparently I put my blinker on too soon, as some douche coming towards me thought I was turning into the spot instead of out of the lot, so he floored it, forcing me to jam on my brakes, just to get into the spot. It was nuts.

I've seen people screaming at each other all the time, though. I think it's the combination of a lot layout that was seemingly designed by a complete retard, plus the crazy hoops you need to jump through just to get off the highway and into the place, plus the dense population of the area. The combination manages to turn otherwise normal people into screaming, crazy, idiots.

the parking lot does suck. the new movie theater does not help matters.
where do u go there for happy hour?

I had some one zoom in front of me in a parking lot to steal a space, then back up into my car while they were trying to get into the spot. (I was stopped a good distance away)

I hate it when people ask where I'm parked and want to follow me. So I usually walk down the wrong aisle and if someone asks I just vaguely point and say "down there".

So I get to my car, but I cross over to another aisle so it's not where the inquiring party is. Usually someone else is there to grab the spot and I laugh at them for losing the parking game.

absolutely, TOTALLY worth it. if i had to do it over again, i wouldn't change a thing.

in fact, i was hoping i would bump into that psycho again because i know she was going to start something.

i don't get the hate. it's not your responsibility to make sure the guy asking gets the spot.
you don't have to slow down and guide the guy to your car. you go at your own pace and if he makes it there, then good for him. if not, no hard feelings.

I was just there last nite for the fireworks. Yup, a mob scene, but great fireworks. I've heard that the intersection of 4 and 17, within a few miles, is something like 5 per cent of all the retail sales in the US. Packed, heck yes.

I have my own secret guaranteed-to-find-a-spot parking section at the garden state, but I'm not telling anyone where.

When you were talking about parking, I felt that the waiting lady had the right to the spot - but when you said where, I knew you were right. Parking in a NJ mall makes Road Warrior look like a mr. rogers story. Congrats, you're one of us. And the way to deal with the crazy lady is to find a mall cop while she's ranting. As long as you're not ranting too, they'll deal with it. By taking her back to her car and escorting her off the lot.

So, what'd you get?

I think we'd all agree that spot was definitely yours. But you really shouldn't have provoked the woman further. At that point, you probably had a feeling that she wouldn't listen to reason, so you should have just gone. If a situation can't get any better, it can still get worse.

I applaud your handling of the situation.

People are so godamned stupid....., but how did that stupid woman come to the conclusion that you were not a suicidal ex-con just out on parole for killing someone, you were high on meth may have had a fucking gun in the car....answer; she didn't....so apparently, in her eyes her life and the life of her son is worth a parking spot.

There is something to be said for keeping your mouth shut and moving on......it could save your life.

Maybe hate is too strong of a word. It's just annoying that other random people think that they are so important that I would be obligated to help insure they find a parking spot, when those same people would be the ones cutting in front of me and doing other stupid shit to try to get one ahead of me if I was in my car looking. Screw them.

why were you trying to reason with her at the mall entrance?

When I end up dealing with someone like her, this is what I do:

"Stop bothering me. Just shut the hell up, because no one wants to hear your mouth. Leave me alone."

and I walk away.

That's all you need to do.

returned a couple of items that the gf bought last week and didn't like 😱
then went to RF on 17 and bought a matching loveseat to go with my sofa 😀

because it was so easy. because it was fun.
i will admit i feel a little immature for doing it though. but at the same time, it felt so good 🙂

Its generally not a good idea to poke a hornet nest with a stick.

That said, they do make a pretty awesome buzzing noise when you do!

It was like for me everyday in college. Except instead of just one car parked in the row waiting for someone to leave, there would be several, all spaced out so that each car would "claim" about 15 -20 parking spots in front of them. If a spot opened up in front of them they would take it, as long as it was within the range between them and the next parked car waiting for someone to leave.

If a car was parked at the start of the row with no other cars parked waiting in that row, if a spot opened up towards the middle to end of the row, that spot was considered fair game to any car that drove past the parked car waiting for a spot to open in that row.

I just ignore people when I am in public for the most part. I just walk away and go about my business. Arguing won't solve anything. If they lose control, well, that's what CC is for.

and if they CC too?

In a nice, fair, happy-land world, it should have been the lady's spot. She was waiting in that section, I'm assuming, so it would have been nice and fair for you to "give" her the spot. In reality, whoever gets there first and is closest gets it, meaning you. You even asked the people who were leaving, which made it "official". So it would have been courteous for you to give that spot to the lady, but honestly, tell her to go to hell with that attitude.

The gf I think was wrong, but not cause she wasn't backing you up. For getting mad, probably. Anyways, if that idiot came at me, and called me out by waiting at the door, making a scene infront of the kid, I'd probably forget about the kid and let her have it.

I pretty much avoid that garden state mall even though I live super close to it. I usually end up driving all the way to palisades instead, which isn't MUCH better, but that little bit helps I guess :/

Biggest douchebag people in the world live in this area, no doubt.

If you just happened to bump into the woman inside the mall and escalated the situation, then the GF would have a point for being upset. However, this woman waited for you at the mall entrance. She's fair game then.

I walk to the mall :/

Anyways, I would have done the same thing with provoking. Some times it is just to tempting.
