An important concept

Yesterday, like has happened before, several team members expressed some frustration with another member who left the team.

You'll also often see messages posted that accuse other teams of cheating, that bash other sites or even other forums on Anandtech.

If you find yourself getting all worked up over the "TeAM" when you read messages like that, remember this:

Those are individual members posting, not the "TeAm". Even if it seems like the person posting is a "leader" for whatever project, they'll still just an individual member posting.

If you must get mad and reply, it would be better to direct your ire against the person posting, not the TeAm.

I'm a team member. There are tons of posts by the "leaders" or "long-term members" that I disagree with. We don't have an instant mind meld where the views of every teammate can be instantly accessed, so the "TeAm" is never posting or speaking. In truth, there really isn't anyone who can speak for the "TeAm".

I find that keeping that in mind makes it very easy to get over reactions I have and allows me to respond to the individual teammate instead of sweeping the whole "TeAm" into my response.

True, probably due to how things have been very tense for the past couple of months. In any case, things will settle down and we can forget and forgive any harsh comments made.

Well said!

By no means are the BBR forums completely clean.
I haven't seen as many of the kind of rants and dissin' over @ BBR regarding LM or SETI.

When flames and tantrums do appear, they are quickly dealt with in private and in public.

You are always welcome to post on our forums as well.
Your input is valued.

At first I was real put off by the attitudes of some of the members-senior members at that.

I appreciate this topic being discussed.

🙂

An apology as I seem to have been the one that stirred up the stink last night. There was no real intention to start something...just tired, overworked and the title set me off (as well as others). It has been "cleared" up now....and I admit that I jumped the gun. So sorry to everyone....hope I didn't screw up everyone's weekend (mine's already screwed....work all weekend...and next 6 days too....13 days again....10 to 12 on weekdays...and 8 on Sunday! 🙁....maybe you see why I'm tired)

I agree with Michael 100% on the above statements....we are not one...but many. Different cultures, attitudes, lifestyles. One does not speak for all....and in reality, all does not speak for one.

If I made any offensive comments to anyone, please accept my apology now....as they were made in my "not so normal" self. 🙁

I'm not a leader...maybe a "Cheer"leader....maybe a little too vocal at times.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.....

😱 :brokenheart:

Eh, its in the past. We all get stressed, sometimes we accedently offend others, but in the end nobody is any worse off.

Your still great Engineer.....and a leader if you like it or not. 😉

No where in my original post did I say there is anything wrong with posting an opinion or reacting to news.

It has been proven that some teams did have cheaters on them and it is upsetting when someone jumps ship (and yet we warmly welcome people who come join us with WU's).

My point is simply to differentiate between a post from a member and the "TeAm". Not to toss bricks at other members. Those who have experienced my direct rebuttal posts know that I'm specific when I decide I' mad enough to post an opinion on a specific post.

I have a real hard time getting "mad" at anyone on these forums. Heck, I have a hard
time getting mad at all. Kinda like the big arguments some of the players used to get into
in Q3. I used to say that "it's just a game!" and I treated it like a game. Distributed Computing
is much like a game of Q3. Many different people from around the world are playing/crunching,
we post things of interest, and reply when we feel moved. It is friendly competition to reach
milestones and as in our TABOO group, help others reach milestones before Seti1 ends.
BUT, not a one of us is making a paychedk from DC and therefore I cannot get worked up
about much of anything that anyone could say to me in this forum, or the other forums that I frequent.
I will end my rant by saying that "Life is waay too short to sweat the small stuff", and it's
all small stuff.

my .02,
Luv y'all,
Hay
Cheers to you all! ! 😀
