An idea inspired by Rossman and the LCD Dell's

First, this idea is inspired by a pic i saw long time ago where Rossman had a crapload of LCD's from Dell that he sold off.

Me and a couple of people are slowly deciding we want flat panel's. Rather then pay for retail one by one, one of us, after collecting enough peeps, wants to buy a crapload like Rossman did and hopefully find a place where there will be a sweet discount due to volume order.

How many monitor's do you think we need to order and where would I get it from without totally going into the reseller business? Or if do get into the reseller business (a bunch of us have our own businesses) where's a good place to approach?

I was searching around the dell small business for a bit but couldn't find anything on the reseller program unless that "Premier Dell" is the reseller program.

The infamous Dell 18" are looking mighty delicious... :brokenheart:

Good luck!

I bought about 30 total (19" and 20" LCD's) costing around $20k.

Never again. Digicams are the way to go in terms of profit.

What, did you take a bath on the LCD's or were they just harder than cameras to unload?

What kind of discount did dell give you for that kinda of volume? :Q

Nothing special. That order is PEANUTS compared to what some of the hard core FW/B$ Hot Dealers do in volume. They routinely spend $50k a month, re-sell usually reaping $5-8k per month profit.

Here's the infamous Dell order pic. That was half the order taken using my wife's ULTRA CRAPPY Kodak DX3700 digicam.

30 is not what I would consider a volume order. Try several thousand.:p

Yes but the profit wasn't worth it because the market was FLOODED with LCD's.

Bad timing on my part.

I bet someone has written a program that tracks the average closing price on ebay and compares it to current hot deals...arbitrage! :)

These things are such a big risk. You have to make sure you get a killer deal so that you end up making something. I don't know if christmas is the best time to do this or not. On one hand you have more people buying on ebay, but on the other hand, you have more competition selling on ebay.

well have ever lost money on any of those deals? If so what's the most you have ever lost.

I am just trying to assess the risk vs. payoffs vs. time invested.
