What you need is the healing brush tool (soft edge) and some patience. See below – I touched up a few of the long scratches. Take a look at your grandfather's shirt and the house in the back-left.

i hope you don't plan to spend a lot of time doing a custom web app that makes it taggable/commentable... while it's cool, you may not see a lot of actual use. ;) Been there with this custom stuff... and they're our generation too.

No I plan to implement one of the ready made PHP image gallery scripts that come with most of this. But I plan to use my web site and this project to improve my programming/scripting and web design skills. So I'll probably spent lots of time looking over the code and maybe adding / playing around with stuff. But it won't be a waste if people don't use it cause the goal is to learn.
