I was struck by the nurturing difference between the Chinese coaches and the Russian coaches, as well as by the demeanor of the athletes. The Russian girls all looked like they needed to be on Prozac. So depressed and angry. The Chinese girls were beautiful and fresh and got big hugs after most of their events. As an aside, I would offer that the Chinese girls were, to my old eyes, the prettiest girls as well.

You know, this is sport. This is play. This should be fun. When it stops being fun, you should stop doing it. The Russians set a really bad example for the millions of girls worldwide who look to them for leadership, which they've given in the past. I guess this is just one more piece of evidence that the Russians are on an out of control downward spiral. Too bad.

Edit: And I don't blame the girls. The coaches are at fault for creating a hostile playing environment. Perhaps all the girls need to file a Civil Rights complaint! :) Oh, it's Russia. They may still shoot complainers. Better not do that. :p

Yeh Chess especially Korkina, even though she is (or was) world champion, you just have to look at her, her face says it all, these just haven't been here Olympics.

But the elder of the Russian girls, the taller one with the fuller figure (still slim but not emanciated like the rest), she had long hair too, Oh & a bit of a tan, seemed to have an ok attitude to it all.

"You don't do that kind of stuff on TV. You do that sh!t when you're out of the spotlight and in private with your other teammates. You don't show that kind of disrespect TO THE WHOLE WORLD."

What's TV got to do with the price of eggs NSF4? I know it maybe a bit much too expect but I want my TV to be real, not all glossy & candy-coated fake.

"If I came thousands of miles to see the olympics, I come to say togetherness and good sportmanship and competition. I don't want to see girls taking off their medals in disgust. That just ain't right. If you didn't perform well enough to get a gold, you don't deserve it and be happy with your silver."

Why should they care what you think. Anyway the Olympics is big business, so its all about money. Do you know what things are like in Russia? A gold medal can mean the difference between a life of poverty & a secure life. Would you rather they had 'fake it' just to keep their sponsors happy.

Anyway if you saw that event, you'd realised they were just pissed off with themselves, not anyone or anything else. Well I spose the eqipment being measured up wrong didn't help.

Besides IT'S THEIR BLOODY MEDALS, NOT YOURS.
