Um, your boss couldn't possibly care about anything you said other than:
I will try to train my replacement to the best of my ability, and because you will not be working until Monday, my two weeks notice will not be given until then?my last day will be Monday, September 19, 2005.

You would look like a moron if a potential employer called up your current boss to ask about you.

Hiring Boss:"Hi there I'm with ACME medical supply and am interviewing a Mr. Mel O. Dramatic, do you have any information on his time spent under your employment?"

Your Boss: "Well it just so happens I have his/her resignation letter right here, lemme read it too you...."

Hiring Boss:"Ummm thanks for the heads up."

Your Boss: "My pleasure"

owned

What's with the crying? Are you a girl?

Also I don't think you need to go into that detail. Just say you're too busy with school and smell ya later.

too long... the boss wont read past the second paragraph.

and most bosses dont care what it takes for you to do yur job... they only care if it is not getting done.

Good lord, that's a whole bunch of whining.

Take a business writing course while you are in school please.

Delete all of that and replace it with a short statement of when your last day at the company will be.

Try something along the lines of this.

Manager,

Please accept this letter as my two weeks notice of resignation.

As school has recently started, I feel I must spend more time studying since this is a crucial year for me and will have an impact on my future. I assure you I will do my best to make this transition as smooth as possible.

It has been a pleasure working for you and I wish you and the company nothing but the best. Thank you for having me on your team.

Sincerely,

I'm gonna copy, paste, and print that. is that ok? 🙂

Go for it. Glad I was able to help.

FAR too much information...

Simply write a letter "Due to school and personal reasons - My last day will be Monday, September 19th."

Done.

roger.

-=bmacd=-

remove everything between "as you and" and " september 19 2005". Seriously....

point 1: by law you have to have a lunch
point 2: don't talk about crying...you sound...bizarre
point 3: write this:

"Dear manager,
With the start of school again I realize that I can not balance both the workload from my employment here and my workload from classes. I thank you for the opportunity to work at (insert place's name here), and respectfully give my 2 weeks notice"

point 4: seriously, delete everything you had written, you sound like a whining bytch

yep. no need for anything else except maybe "I'd be happy to perform any training necessary to make the transition go more smoothly"

By sending a rude letter you are basically getting rid of 3 years worth of work. You cant write a rude letter and then ask for a reference in the future. Just say you are done in 2 weeks due to school.

I agree. That letter is way too melodramatic.

I, for one, think he should hand in the resignation letter that he typed.
If he is going to go out, he should go out with a bang 😉 😉

no need to write a long letter and waste your manager/boss's time... just go there and say,"this is my two weeks, school is starting soon" .. WHAM, BAM, THANK YOU MAM.

Most likely your boss doesn't give a crap about your personal time management issues. Just make it short, sweet, and professional. NEVER NEVER NEVER try to make a business letter funny or "tongue-in-cheek", because it always backfires and makes you look like an ass.

FTW

Generic and polite is the way to always go, no need to burn any bridges even if you think it won't have any bearing on your future jobs.

unless you are lokiju...you suck!

Your boss doesn't want to hear your fvcking life story. Submit a standard resignation letter.
