An attack on our freedom? Why does everyone say that.

Bush said to his address to the nation, they attacked our freedom.
This lip service is dring me nuts. I know he's saying it to combine our hate towards these people that attacked us but quit lying to us.
They attacked us because we were so willing to give them weapons to fight Russia for us during the Cold War but afterwards when their country was in shambles we weren't there in their eyes to help them out after they did such a favor for us being our army basically. With all the weapons we gave them they easily began to fight among themselves, and we didn't help.
So the Taliban comes along (as Hitler did to Germany) and made peace out of the chaos. And now the Taliban is going against us. But they are not attacking our freedom. So why do they keep saying so?
 
Because they (the terrorists) used our freedom of movement, and other freedoms we've taken for granted in this country & used them against us.

We have the freedom to have stupid opinions & as long as we don't hurt anyone, we don't take stupid people out in front of a crowd in a soccer stadium & execute them @ halftime.
 
Because these people want to destroy our very way of life...

They wish to impose their religion on YOU by force... Either join them, or die...

You have three choices... Join them, fight them, or die...

They will not allow you to do nothing and be left alone...

Yes, basiclly...

His view is that you're an infedel and either need to be "saved" or destroyed... I'm not sure he much cares which...

jehh is right. As I have tried to get people to understand before this isn't just "America's War" folks. This is the opening phases of a repeat of the muslim vs non-muslim power struggles of Saladin. It's time to kick the Moors out again guys because they aren't just knocking at America's gate they're after the entire western world and I for one don't want to have to wear a veil and pray five times a day so we'd better pull together and win this whatever it takes.

Ask the people who were in the WTC if their freedom was attacked. And when you do that remember that you are on the same list that they just happened to be at the front of.

I just had another thought, the people's freedom that were in those jets were attacked as well I suppose.
 
Physically, they've taken away the freedom to take nail clippers, scissors, and Swiss-army knives on board airplanes. Soon, they may take away our freedom to take carry-on bags. They've also taken away the freedom to enter sporting events and other gatherings without being searched or having to go through a metal detector.

Mentally, they've taken away our freedom not to have to think twice about flying or about entering high-rise buildings.

There are three mains things I understand to piss OBL off the most.

1. Military presense in saudi arabia and other ME countries. saudi the most, because he is a saudi national.

2. The backing of Israel in its war against the palestinians

3. (I have a vague knowledge of this) The war in serbia where a million (?) arabs were killed. OBL feels we helped that.



And of course, the intrusion of western ideoligies and values, but that is rather vague.

And that last point is the kicker... The only real way to remove that is to remove us...

Bush said in his speach that this was a war against our very way of life, our beliefs and freedom was being attacked... The freedom to live how you want, where you want, worship how you want...

Bin Laden wants to take that freedom away...

So, basically, they hate us because of middle east presence and involement, and aid to Israel to kill Palestineans.
