AMR MODEM CRISIS!!!! on i820

Hello,
I got an Asus P3C-L motherboard (i820 w/P3 733Mhz) and I had bought an AMR modem long ago for my AOpen AK72 which DID not work, because my case did not have an opening to make iot visible. So I saved it, but this time it does fit in the case, but I have NO drivers(it never came with one) I have Windows XP Pro and it never installed it when I put XP in there, and neither does it classify it as Unknown hardware. I checked in my BIOS to ENABLE AMR modem function but still no luck. I went to Asus' website, but they have drivers for up to Windows 2000 ( are ALL AMR modems the same?? So it does not depend what Motherboard used or who ever made the AMR modem itself). Any one dealt with this kind of situation or with AMR modem's in general?? Thanks for any input.

You need AMR specific drivers from the AMR manufacturer in order for it to work.

Good luck... chances are it wont be compatible anyway. You're best bet if you were to stick with AMR is an Asus AMR instead.

Well I know at the time I bought it, the sales clerk said it was from a Soyo motherboard and would likly be Soyo propietory, but to me its looks like ALL other AMR modems I have seen. It was MADE by SOYO and Soyo got it made by SmartLink (the Model Number is either AMR-P or AMR-S) on their website. Now I formatted HDD and put in Win 2K and I'm struggling with the Software again. From both Asus and Soyo's. Man Intel really screwed people over with this CNR/AMR bull. BTW my P3C-L has NO integrated sound, does it matter if it did??

The AMR slot in itself is standardized. Now what you need is a driver that can handle both the modem data pump
in your board's chipset (an Intel 8xx chipset ICH south bridge obviously) and the modem CODEC and line
interface chip(s) on the AMR card.

What are the chips on that card?

regards, Peter
