Amptron K7 807 ??????

The Amptron 807 is identical to the PC-Chips 807 which in turn is identical to the ECS K7VZA. In the latter incarnation, this board has been getting great reviews throughout. As usual with that group of companies, there are no funny bits on it, no overclocking features, just good performance and stability for an extremely low price.

Watch this bit: ECS/PC-Chips didn't change the board name when they switched from the VIA 686A south bridge to the 686B w/ UDMA100 IDE. So if you intend to use the IDE controllers, make sure you don't get the old one. It seems there is another revision forthcoming that switches from KT133 to KT133A north bridge chip.

Sometimes the board is bundled with an AMR modem card (PCtel brand) that actually works, btw. If you need a modem connection, ask for that.

Regards, Peter
