I am just setting up abotu the 5 millionth system. This is my first time venturing into PC Chips/Amptron land..

Anyway, I have all the settings right, the HDD is detected as master yada yada.

It gets to the system info screen, and at the bottem says:
"Searching for boot record for IDE-0..OK"
then nothng more. HDD is full of a windows install and this was just a mobo swap out..
PSU is 300watt, ram is good, I just tried it in one of my other rigs.

What is happening?

OK, rebuild the old system, go into windows registry and look for the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum delete that and now rebuild your new system. This will force windows to redetect all of its hardware and should fix your problems NO GUARANTEES!

Well, the thing I think, and colpo, is referring to is that your OS thinks you have certain hardware but doesn't know you have something else. It's assuming you have an x southbridge or y pci controller when you have an a southbridge or a b pci etc. You have to have windows detect this new hardware. It's also possible you have a bad board, the reviews on pcchips boards aren't too wonderful. I recommend you rebuild your old system, back up your data, install the new board and fdisk and format the sucker. But I've always been considered excessive.
